Hope this helps.
I have begun pondering this question over the past few days and would like to share my insanity with you all....
At what time does bread become toast (in a toaster)??
You put bread in a toaster and toast comes out....so it stands to reason that at some time in this process the bread becomes toast....my question is at what time?
It cant be when it pops out cause you have several settings which have a duration of different times.
The other question is does bread instantaneously become toast or is there a transitition which goes bread->1/2bread & 1/2 toast->toast??? etc etc??
Personally, i am coming to the conclusion that both the above is wrong......when the bread is put into the toaster a small dual directional wormhole is engaged that leads to another universe in which they use breaders (toast in, bread out) and the wormhole exchanges the two and everyone is happy........

The bread gets toasted. It fulfils its earthly duty by entering the toaster and ceases to be bread, becoming hotter and darker and gloriously emerging from a state of metamorphosis as sweet wonderful toast!!

Toast is bread that has been browned by exposure to dry heat. This browning reaction is called the Maillard reaction. Toasting warms the bread and also makes it firmer, so that it holds toppings more securely. Toasting is also a common method of making stale bread more palatable.

The bread has undergone a physical change induced by the heat of the toaster and has become toast. Its the same thing, it only looks different.

It's really that we're lazy and prefer shortened names, it is actually called "toasted bread", but as time has passed, it became "toast"
