Water Pump Invention

It is unexplained who invented the Water Pump first,
Ancient Romans, Chinese, Indians everyone used some form of Water Pump.

However Archimedes's Screw reformed the Water Pump and gave it a whole new meaning, for this i think Roman should be credited for Mordern Water Pumps (designed based on screw are still in use for water pumps)

thanks

The water pump was well developed by Ctesibius of Alexandria (circa 300 to 200 BC) for awesome temple mechanisms. The Archimedes screw is certainly earlier, but it is not a pump, just a lifting device equivalent to a continuous bucket chain.

Archimedes is sometimes credited with the design of the screw pump which was certainly first used in irrigation over 2,000 years ago.
