i want to become a cop but i know on the polygraph test, they'll ask you if you've ever sold drugs, i sold a nug of weed for a dollar about 3 years ago, and thats all i've ever sold in my life. Will this hurt my chances of becoming a cop?
*****What if i go back to the kid i sold to and gave him back his dollar, wouldn't that reverse the crime i did? and then i could say i never sold weed?*****

I just took my polygraph test about a month ago, and I also had my background investigator call me to ask questions as well. During the polygraph, they do ask if you ever sold, manufactured, did, or transferred drugs, you will have to answer yes to that question, cause there is no way out of that they put a pulse indicator on your index finger, also they strap a devise around your waist to monitor your breathing, and also monitor your heart rate, it really does work. cause they tell you to lie about a question so they can tell the difference between your real answers.
Now when my back ground investigator called me he asked the the very same question, I said no, and he said good cause if you answered yes to any of that question, I would be hanging up on you and telling you to find a different job!!
So you're not gonna fool the polygraph, and no it will not reverse the crime, when you're asked that question they will see that your heart rate will increase and your breathing will get faster! If you're thinking that way, then you don't have very good integrity, if you think you can reverse the crime!! They won't hire you !! And you should be ashamed of yourself for selling to a kid!! That's where it's gonna hurt you. YOU SOLD TO A KID!! Get a life!!

As long as you are convincing and actually get yourself to believe you have never sold drugs, you'll pass the polygraph. They are a joke anyway.
How about you donate that dollar to charity and you can feel like you never sold drugs - you were passing on some weed and collecting for charity at the same time.

Police requirements are decreasing on those kinds of things. They actually want people who have a moderate drug past that way they'll be able to relate to and be able to think like the real druggies.

What's the worst that can happen? You won't become a cop? If you don;'t take the poly you won't become a cop. So it can't be worse than that. Take the poly; be truthful; explain the circumstance & see what happens.
