there is just not enough mamas for them all to sit on. My middle child,(the second twin 22 mo.) Always ends up haveing to stand next to me and it breaks my heart. He is the first to feel crowded and moves away on his own. What can I do besides take turns?

Like the gal who used blankies, we used to make a "nest" of sleeping bags, fleece softies blanket (the kind you make by ties edges on the fleece-each got to pick their material so it was fun-about 5-8.00 each) and pillows. The kids got a kick out of making it on the floor in front of the TV and designing their "spot".We would put out bowls of ranch dressing, veges, cheese, summer sausage, cherrios or chips etc and have movie nights with finger food- it made it a special thing and we were all comfy......

I have 2 6 year olds, 2 3 year olds, an 18 month old & a 9 month old so they can't all sit on my lap at once. LOL I take turns with who (usually 2 of them) actually SIT on my lap & everyone else gathers round close. That is the easiest way I have found.

When you get the answer to this, let me know! Dad just isn't good enough when it comes to lap time. Even my 6 yr old still wants to sit in my lap. Try sitting on the sofa with one in the lap and the other 2 on each side. Make it up to the one's sitting on the side by holding there hands. This is what I have to do. Good luck!

Well we used to mark the calendar...every month together...I would let my kids pick the days, and mark with colors on the calendar which days they got the front seat of the car, and got to sit next to me on the couch because they always fought...the person that didn't get to sit next to me on the couch got the front seat, that made it fair...this will work better for you when your kids get a bit older though...we always had Friday night movie night...and this would ensure fairness on the same amount of days....and on Sundays it was a free for all we would just pile up on the floor and spread a big blanket and all pile up...and who ever didn't get to sit next to me that night got to pick out the show...that way everyone felt important...

sometimes I didn't feel as important because they started fighting over the show instead...LOL...:)

...God Bless and Good Luck...

Have them sit on either side of you and put your arm around them. Have one sit in the middle. That way, one gets to sit on your lap, and even though the other 2 aren't on your lap they are still being embraced my mom. That's soo sweet that they want to sit on your lap..adorable :-)

I have the same problem and all I do is I get a big blanket out and we get some popcorn or carrot sticks or something like that and we all lay on our bellys and watch tv together that way there is no fighting and noone feels left out.

Have them all sit next to you on blankies. I did this when my kindergaten students wanted to sit on my lap as I did not have enough room for 15 kids. They loved it and still felt special and close to me.

Don't feel bad! I have spoken to many middle children in my life, being one we feel that restriction and constriction, it's just us - just give him some special time when the others are with dad or grandparents, a nice cuddle, big kisses, huggy time - alone. He will love it and you will too.

Uh...where's daddy? Certainly he could provide a comforting lap and hug?
