sorry for the delay, i have attended mormon churches many many times, the ritual i saw about takes, or took place in the temples only, somethin i am not allowed to enter to learn about.

the ritual i am speaking of is one when they present you with the "garments" and getting completly cleaned with water by the bishop. i got this information form an ex-mormon who i have heard is very respected in his work of speaking abou t what happens in the temple. the ritual included the bishop hand washing every part of the body with water, an "oath" (for lack of better words) of joining the church including leaving the church or speaking bad of the church resulting in punishments, death was mentioned, but even i who does not understand any of the mormon religion do not even believe that they would kill if you left the church.

I'd be more than happy to discuss LDS doctrine with you, but I don't click on unknown links.

Not sure what "ritual" you're talking about.

Edit: No more details forthcoming?

Edit: Well, the temple ordinances are sacred to LDS members, and we don't talk about them outside of the temple. You don't have to reach any "rank" in the church to enter the temple. You just have to be living the teachings of the church (ie basically be living a moral lifestyle).

As with all things in the LDS church, none of the beliefs or ordinances ("rituals", if you will) are forced. It is all voluntary. Much of it is symbolic and helps us to understand our relationship with God and remember the promises we have made to Him as members of His church.

However, I would encourage you to seek knowledge about these things from people who honor them and are sincere believers - and not from sources that seek only to ridicule and debase.

I totally agree with beta fish. They are very sacred to those of us who truly love the Lord and hold those covenants close to our hearts. I also agree that you should talk with those kind of people, not the ones who have a hatred towards it or are bitter towards the church. most people who leave the church can't or don't want to live by the standards, never really had a testimony of it, or have been offended for some reason and hold their grudge against the church.

These videos and slander, these false rumors and misconceptions, these are the types of things that are of the devil, all the false information and evil being spread. That is the devil doing his work. he wants everyone to be scared of the mormons and hate them because he knows it is true and he is doing everythign he can to stop the growth of the true gospel. But he WILL fail.
I caution you to be careful of what you believe. Satan can be very deceiving and make you feel something when it is really not that at all. You can only feel two spirits, one is of the Lord and one is of the devil. he can make you think you feel great and he is really leading you away from the light.
You ask someone who has truly felt both spirits and they will know the difference. It is a spiritual gift to be able to discern between the two spirits. many of us can. I can assure you feeling the Holy Ghost (which is conferred upon you after baptism and is is companion with the spirit of the Lord) compares with peace, love, charity, wholesomeness, everything good.

As an ex-mormon, I understand why you're having a hard time getting a strait answer to your questions. (Actually, I find it funny that none of the Mormons want to answer your question!!) The following information is very threatening to them.

To be fair, the video clip you attached doesn't present Mormonism and its beliefs from the point of view that Mormons see it.

However, your video clip does talk about many ceremonies that Mormons do in the temple. Be aware that the LDS church has changed many things, and the temple endowment ceremony is one of them. I believe I read somewhere that the LDS church recently decided to take-out the annoiting of the body parts altogether--although, don't quote me on that, they may very well be doing it still.

Anyway, the following site talks about the changes, temple recommends, washing and anointing, new names, pre-endowment instructions, signs and penalties, baptism for the dead, etc.

I began watching until I realized what it was- and didn't want to watch any further.
No, this is not still practiced. Unfortunately, many people probably see things like this and form their opinion about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints based on statements of disgruntled, excommunicated members, and mis-informed persons. They would do better to research what the Church focuses on, which is teaching the members how to be more Christ-like.
Don't talk to bitter, ex-members or watch obviously outdated propaganda to learn about the Church. Find out for yourself, personally...take this as an invitation to learn about the Church in the right way - http://www.mormon.org/welcome/0,6929,403-1,00.html

Ya, all of your info from your "former mormon" friend is way off... in fact grosley incorrect.

Our temples are sacred, not secret. We perform oridnances, not rituals. And they teach us more about the afterlife and our purpose here on earth. Learn from the source: www.lds.org

I didn't watch the whole thing but that man is a lyer, Polygamy was practiced because we needed more people but it was ended because there was no more use for it. That happened in the 1800's does not happen any more...Latter Day Saints (momons) are christians and we beilieve in God and Jesus Christ, if you have any other questions you can talk to your local missionaries :D

Why dont you come to church and see for yourself? Why do you bother to listen to false videos? There are false hoods about every church. The best sourse would be an active member and some time at church with us to see for YOURSELF.

The church is true- and so Satan will try and do everything in his power to deceive people into thinking false things to keep them from the truth.

We invite you to church, to see the missionaries, we are open to all.

Further, pray about it for yourself!!! Shouldn't you ask the Father yourself if these things are true or not? Seems logical to me that HE is the best sourse of ALL truth.

God speed brother-

It is loading too slowly for me and I'm not shutting of my music. The rituals are actually old Masonic rituals. there are even masonic emblems on the marriage underwear. I only got a minute into it, but they baptize the dead as well. I have heard a few things about Lucifer, but not enough to comment on that part. I didn't have to go too far into Mormonism to reject it.

I can say the Mormons I have met have generally been nicer people on average though, and I don't think any religion is real.
