I heard that some people get sick after they get their first flu shot. I have never had one before but the flu is going around our town and I want to protect myself.
The clinic I called said they will give me a flu shot for $30 and it doesnt have an active virus in it so I wont get sick.
Does the receptionist know what she is talking about? Because everyone else said that they were sick for 3-4 days after they got the flu shot and they were 100% healthy before their shot.
from you experience how have you all handled your flu shot??

I'm 23 years old. I do feel nauseous today. My temp is only 97.5 but I feel sick to my stomach and achy.
The reason I wanted to get the shot is becuse a lot of people i work with are getting the flu and when I woke up this morning I felt like I got hit by a truck and my fiance said that I tossed and turned all night, so much so that he didnt sleep at all.
I just had surgery because my doctor found high grade dysplasia around my cervix.
I am just trying to protect myself from getting sick

They have no idea what they are talking about.

Do NOT get vaccinated.

A vaccinated person is MORE likely to get a disease than a non-vaccinated person. The whole theory of vaccination is flawed. It causes a weakening of the immune system thus making those who are innoculated more susceptible to disease.
There are so many awful side effects to vaccination that it should be considered extremely dangerous.
Just sit back and think for a while.
Is there any sense in injecting a disease directly into your body.
We have been subjected to an awful mind control program to enable the drug manufacturers to make a fortune.

The receptionist is exactly correct in giving you that information. Some people have a reaction to the flu shot with symptoms of joint pain or feeling a tad under the weather, but it's much better than getting the flu.

Your blessed to be able to take the flu shot. I'm not able because my immune systems stays low and it's a high risk for taking the shot.

I believe there are downs and ups in everything you do. Just don't take the flu shot if your already sick or feeling bad. A couple of tylenol if you don't feel well and it's all over but the shooting...

The flu shot contains the inactive virus but your body treats it as an active virus and creates antibodies. Some people do get ill after getting the shot (my mother included), usually because their immune systems are weak to begin with or they're taking medications that conflict with the shot. For most, all the flu shot does is give you a sore arm for a few days.

It's recommended not to take the flu shot if you have flu-like symptoms prior to the day you get your shot because you can get much more sick.

But normally, people do not get sick after getting the shot, but some do. Everyone's different.

I just got my flu shot yesterday, and I have a little soreness on my arm where they poked me with the needle.

I feel kinda of fatiqued, but that's probably because my white cells are being used right now to fight the flu virus that was injected in me yesterday.

you might get a running nose for a day or two
you may have some slight soreness at the injection site
you might run a very slight fever for a day but believe me that beats having the flu which could put you in misery for more than a week. if you are very young, old or have any medical conditions, seriously consider the fact the shot is almost mandatory for you.
flu causes many hospitalizations and deaths every year- more than people realize
BUT make sure you are not allergic to eggs as you cannot get the shot if you are

sometimes after a flu shot people feel a little under the weather for a couple of days. Especially if the virus is active and your body is building antibodies against the active virus. Usually the worst I get is a sore arm at the injection site. Either way it will protect you against getting seriously ill if you should contract the flu.

You are not supposed to get sick from the flu shot. Sometimes people get soreness at the sight injection but that is it. I think it is a coincidence that some people you know got sick after getting the shot. I have been getting it for years and have been ok. It is better than getting the flu this winter. That sucks.

You can't get the flu from the shot. It will not make you sick. Everyone I know who got the flu shot ended up with a sore arm for couple of days and that's it. The shot will not protect you from regular cold viruses, and the people who you were talking about probably caught something like that.

You cannot get sick from the flu shot. Yes, she does know what she's talking about. You may feel a little tired and have some soreness at the injection site....but that's it.

Remember--you can still get the flu even after getting the vaccine....it just won't be nearly as bad as if you hadn't had the shot.

There is NO way I would take a flu shot. They contain mercury and mercury poisoning is very serious business. Check out the article at Flu News (link below). These flu shots contain Thimerosol. Here's a few excerpts from the article:

--"Thimerosal contains 49.6 percent mercury by weight and is metabolized or degraded into ethylmercury and thiosalicylate. Mercury, or more precisely, ethylmercury, is the principle agent that kills contaminants. Unfortunately, mercury also kills much more than that."

--"Banned around the world, but not in the United States"

--"...a Russian study found that adults exposed to ethylmercury, the form of mercury in thimerosal, suffered brain damage years later."

Do what you will, but I won't be getting injected with anything that has mercury in it. I'll take my chances with the flu, thank you.

I got the flu after my first flu shot, but they say it was a different "strain". Then I didn't take it a couple of years and got the flu anyway. I get dehydrated every time I get the flu and end up having to get IV fluids, so now I take it. I got it today, in fact.
