Hi there,

It is great you want to make a healthy lifestyle change, however don't become obsessed about it (not saying you are or will be). I am only speaking from my past mistakes with losing weight. The more obsessed, the more difficult it will be to lose weight.

Besides cutting back (or eliminating as much as you can until you lose the weight you want) on red meat, white flour based products, and sweets, here is a healthy "short cut" secret that I have used to shed some weight.

Use these specific fruits in their FRESH states (no canned stuff): Pineapple, papaya, mango, kiwi, prunes, and strawberries. What you’ll want to do is eat a lot of one of these fruits everyday for breakfast. The exception is prunes (have only a cup portion of these). Be sure to purchase your dried prunes and strawberries organic. The dried prunes will contain sulfur if you don’t purchase from a health food store. And strawberries are known to have high pesticide levels, so organic is a wise choice.

Eat a lot of the fruit on the list for breakfast alone and then wait at least 2 hours (or more) before eating any thing else. If you really want to speed up the weight loss a bit, then eat an unlimited amount of one of the fruits (excluding prunes), wait 2 hours or more and then eat an unlimited amount of another fruit on the list. Wait 2 hours or more and then resume eating regular non-fruit foods. If you do this on a consistent basis, you’ll lose weight.

From my experience, the best fruit combinations to have in the mornings are:

A cup of organic dried prunes. Wait 2 hours or more. Unlimited fresh organic strawberries (frozen is acceptable though). Wait 2 hours or more before resume eating other healthier foods for the day.

Unlimited fresh pineapple. Wait 2 hours or more. Unlimited kiwi. Resume.

Unlimited papaya. Wait 2 hours or more. Unlimited Pineapple. Wait 2 hours or more. Resume.

Etc.

I hope this helps.

You basically have to train your brain not to crave so much food. Keep an eye on portion control and cut back on what you eat normally. Try 4-6 smaller, snack-sized meals throughout the day and be sure that it's healthy food, lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Dieting and exercise are a lifestyle change and can be very challenging to keep up. But focus on the end result and how good you'll look in your bikini in the summer. Try to get a buddy to exercise with you and look for fun routines like kick boxing (I suggest Billy Blanks' BootCamp Elite, you can do it in your living room and the resistance bands help build lean muscle which in turn, helps burn fat faster). But cardio is key. Best of luck!

I have zero will power too. I can only keep my weight under control by eating 4x per day and giving myself one day a week where I am not dieting. The 4 meals are about 300 calories each. Don't laugh, but the meals are usually Lean Pockets. They taste good so I don't feel deprived. And only calorie free drinks. Soda has a ton of sugar and if you drink regular soda now, just stopping that will really help you drop weight.

You might think about trying this book called "The Movie Star Diet" by Steve Simmons. It helped me lose thirty pounds in 2 1/2 months when I didn't think anything would work. My goal to begin with was only 20 lbs! It has a really easy plan to follow.

Hi Kat. Low carb items, vegetables, brown rice, lean meat or fish (except shrimp), the correct type of fat (ergo. olive oil and only small amounts at that), cut out the fats, sugary sweets (cinnamon rice cakes satify the sweet tooth or yogurt), fresh fruit, as much sald as you can handle. That's a start. No butter or butter products (try beef bouillion and steamed veggies on a baked potato, only diet sodas (get in the green tea mode) AND exercise. You'll be fine. P.S. Look up good foods on the web. Good luck!

I heard that the easiest way to lose weight is to make some life style changes. Instead of sitting at the desk or in front of the TV, stand, instead of using the remote walk over to the TV set to cahnge channels, use the stairs instead of elevator, park farther away in the parking lot so you have to walk more etc. These are actually a lot easier to adjust to and incorporate.

Eat less than 1200 calories per day. Buy those lean cuizines or healthy choice meals, they are VERY good for you and have low calories and are delicous. As far as your will power goes... well... Would you rather be thin or thick? If you really truly want to be thin then you just got to have the will power and be stronger than you think you are. If you really dont want to be thin then you will keep giving in. Good luck

I would start by not trying to restrict the foods you eat, but reducing portion size. Then when you are comfortable with that you can try counting calories. For someone your age and height you only need about 1300 a day.

eat what you want but contol portion size
exercise
drink fluids
do not feel you have to deny yourself of your favorites but remember PORTION CONTROL
relax enjoy yourself engage in activities you enjoy
it will help you to feel better and not obsess about losing weight
diet is not the issue (it is a short term fix) it is adopting healthy lifestyle changes for life that work and help you keep that weight off
i know i lost 40 and kept it off for over 2 years now
food is a friend not any enemy if you know how to approach the issue
