Jews for jesus are a deceptive sect of christianity that want to convert the jews. thankfully i left that group. Jews that leave Judaism for this sect of christianity are just making themselves look really stupid.

Jews for Jesus is a big con to get Jews to convert to Christianity. True there are those of the Jewish race-----but very few, and I doubt if you will find but a handful in this group, if any. Most of the Jews for Jesus have always been Christians, who think they are going back to the roots of their faith, thru Judaism. The Jews for Jesus in my city are 85% Christians-always have been Christians. Some have joined to preach to Jews-their so called mission in life.

Judaism is a religion, and you cannot be of two religions at one time. This is as silly as someone saying he is a Muslim Christian.

It is okay for a Jew to be a Christian. The first Christians were Jews, including the apostles and almost every one else. It wasn't until the second century that the gentiles or non-Jews outnumbered the Jewish believers. Initially the regular Jews accepted the "Messianic" Jews, but with the beginning of the Jewish revolt 70 AD (because the Messianic Jews fled Jerusalem when the Roman "gentile" army came, as Jesus ordered) and again in 132 AD, the Messianc Jews did not support Bar Kochba, a man who claimed that he was the Messiah. That is when the split in Messianic and Rabbinic Jews diverged to a "point of no return".

the problem is that the vast majority of christians do not undersand that judaism is radically different from christianity in all aspects (not just whether jesus was the messiah). They're two completely different religions. And a jew who leaves judaism for another religion is a heretic and an apostate and certainly loses some, if not all, of his status as a jew.

Jews for Jesus are Jews who, having first been raised to consider Jesus was once no longer the Messiah, then, after being offered with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, have converted their ideals and authorised Jesus Christ as their prophetic Messiah. They are also known as Messianic Jews. The early christian church was once made up close to absolutely of Jews! In reality, early Christian worship carefully resembled conventional Jewish worship. Also, there was once a few debate over whether or not Gentiles might be allowed into the religion with out first changing to Judaism and (the guys) filing to circumcision. Once once more non believers looking to shuttle up or confuse the believers, asking rhetetorical questions that first-rate serve thye reason of showcasing the lack of knowledge of the questioner. Why do not you cross spend it slow on an athiest weblog?

Actually I think Jews 4 Jesus is an organization devoted to telling Jews the good news of Jesus Christ. You can be a Jew and a Christian because the Jewish people are both a race and a religion. So in that since you can be a Jew by race and a Christian by religion.

There is NO Jewish religion. Being a Jew means you are a descendant from a sons of Jacob named Judah. The faith they follow is the faith of their Hebrew fathers. Ever one of the 12 Apostles was a Jew.. I think they would qualify as Christian. Paul was a Jew, he too would be a Christian. Most of the first century church were Jews.. Why can't a man be proud of His family lines and follow Jesus at the same time? Jim

Okay, I see your point. But - first of all, there are many "jews" who do believe in Jesus - I think probably thats why the group you mentioned calls themselves "jews for jesus". Yes, its okay to be a jew and believe in Jesus. "jew" is a slang term for "judah".
According to the Bible, to be a Jew you must meet one of two
criteria: either be of the land of Judea (which is where Jerusalem is) as a resident (like if you are from Arkansas, you might be called an "arkansan" or 2) you are of the tribe of Judah,
which is one of the 12 tribes spoken of in Scripture.
Christ was born into the tribe of Judah when he was born of Mary.
Anyway, certainly you can believe in Jesus if you are a resident of Jerusalem, can't you? You can also believe in Jesus if you were born to a member of a particular tribe, or lineage, can't you?
Of the 12 tribes, "judah" and "benjamin" remained behind as they were taken into captivity by Babylon for 69 years. The rest of the ten tribes were taken captive by Aysseria - then later migrated over the caucaus mountains ( therefore we are called caucasions)and settled into Europe, later migrating to this USA, Canada, and other Free Christian Nations.
These folks may be considered "jews" because of their name,
but they in fact are not. So, somebody named Weinstein who believes in Jesus is not at all odd. The Bible is very clear.
If you need help understanding this better, Contact the Shepherds
chapel in Gravette , Arkansas. Pastor Arnold Murray does a very extensive teaching about the subject, and many others that will answer so many questions. Call them for a free Cd, called
"the mark of the beast". phone number is 1-800-643-4645.

Jesus was a Jew and he preached to Jews. He wanted to reform Judaism, not start another religion. The apostles, St. Paul, and history did that. Eventually the Jews who accepted Christ as the Messiah became known as Christians. Today, Jews who accept Jesus as the Messiah want to retain their title as Jews and preserve their history. It's not an oxymoron.

Jews for Jesus is a very real and well-organized group. Many Jews dismiss them as evangelical Christians trying to convert Jews to Christianity.

Yes, it seems like another one of those where they can not make up their minds.
The definition of the religion Christian is that they accept Jesus as the Son of god and as God in the flesh.
Judaism defines itself as only having one God and the best Jesus could be is a Rabbi or Prophet.

Unless they are defining themselves as Jewish by race, and then it is a different game. If they are defining them selves by race then they are Christians of Jewish or Hebrew Ancestry.
