Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Sikhism, Wicca, Scientology, etc– all must have different beliefs but maybe there’s a common denominator. Please state your faith along with your answer, and see if we can cover as many beliefs as possible.

I have no religion, so I don't have to go by "beliefs" about how the world was created, I can go by facts.
Fact: earth formed from the disk of matter accumulated around the forming sun about 4.5 billion years ago.
Fact: All of the elements that make up the earth came from earlier stars that came to violent ends -- the only way to make the heavy elements our planet is made from is in the nuclear reactions that occur as stars age.
Fact: Our universe is about 14 billion years old, our sun only about 5 billion years old, so we're relative newcomers.
Fact: Nothing special about our planet. We're just another planet orbiting our sun. Our sun is just an ordinary star in the outskirts of our galaxy, along with another 200 billion or so other stars that make up our galaxy. Our galaxy (what we call the "Milky Way") is just an ordinary galaxy among many hundreds of billions of other galaxies in the universe.
Fact: There is no evidence of any kind that anything supernatural, or anything having to do with a god of any kind, had anything to do with the origin of our planet, our solar system, our galaxy, or our universe. All of these things are quite easily accounted for by natural laws, and have no need for supernatural intervention.

And last fact: There is no common denominator among creation myths. Judasism, christianity, and islam yes: since they all share the same creation myth from the same writings. All other religions -- no. Their myths are very different.

Hey, slickyboy: you should probably actually know something about science before posting such dribble. The big bang and evolution don't have anything to do with each other (except that the former allowed the latter to happen), and your ideas about the laws of thermodynamics are completely wrong.

What would you suppose they base their facts on? Do you think the NY times did a survey? My friend it is a claim of Islam and it is only important to Islam. Islam used percentages to say it is the fastest growing religion. If percentages counted I could start a religion today and by adding one member I have doubled my membership and am increasing in members at an incredible rate making my religion by far the fastest growing religion in the world. If the truth was proved by numbers then you should accept Christianity, which nearly doubles the membership of Islam. This being said I will tell you the truth...God is not proved by numbers the gate in narrow. Why are you impressed by numbers? Are you insecure in your faith and need others to give you comfort?' You can know the truth and not be concerned but it depends on you realizing your need for God which is your need for the atonement and it is through accepting the atonement you can be righteously joined to God and begin a personal relationship with him and then you can know the truth fro yoruself and not need others to verify your faith.

Fire over Water//

Process guided by God/Holy Spirit// (do not even see it oppose evolution all that much, why do not evolution theorists seek to get to the next stage??) I think only God creates, only Love creates, and with His mind// Oh a day is aeon, that was translated different, although it was aday for God.. Some believe we are still to reach the end of the 7th day and they could be right..

The following verse from the Quran seem to support the Big Bang theory.

(The Quran: 21:30)Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing.

There are other scientific facts in the Quran too. Just search on the web.

The world was not created, (except in the minds of ignorant of the time who needed a God to explain what was then inexplicable).

It is fairly certain the universe, and thus our world, came into existence as the result of the 'big bang'. Science will eventually explain the lot, which in turn will negate any reason to believe in the man-made myth and superstition of religion and gods.

The zen master says, you create the world, right now. Who are you?

The true gnostic translation of the bible says the same thing; the word, the logos, the first thought, is all manifestation.

I can put the creationism/evolution thing to rest too. Evolution is one of god's greatest creation. In eternity, all this occurs at once. Within the illusion of time, it all is in a constant state of becoming, hence evolution.

According to the theory of evolution, "all life originated from a super explosion," known as the Big Bang (Peterson, 1990, p. 70). The Big Bang theory proposes the idea that all matter and energy was at on time densely concentrated at a single point in the universe and measured approximately the size of an electron (Taylor, 1995). Evolutionists teach that for some unknown reason this concentrated mass of material exploded producing the first organization of particles. This process supposedly progressed over a period of billions of years, during which time a single-celled organism developed into complex life forms.

Several significant problems with the Big Bang theory immediately come to mind:

I. Where did all the material present in the Big Bang come from?

2. Why did the material suddenly explode?

3. Can an explosion bring about order?

Evolutionary scientists have left the answer to the first two of these questions as simply "UNKNOWN/' However, because of scientific experiment, the third question can be answered with an emphatic "NO."

It is an observable fact that the addition of certain types of energy, such as heat, always bring about disorder rather than structure. The evolutionary theory ignores this fact with the supposition of the Big Bang. By assigning approximately 12 to 15 billion years to the formation of the universe, the evolutionary theory masks the fact that the addition of chaotic energy always results in chaos. This time scale is based solely on the assumption that given enough time and a "steady addition of energy, it is possible for order to come about" (Peterson, 1990, p. 70). However, even with the addition of billions of years, the evolutionary theory continues to contradict the observable natural laws of nature.

The second law of thermodynamics holds that "all natural systems degenerate when left to themselves" (Taylor, 1995, p. 7). This means that without interceding factors, chemical compounds ultimately break apart into simpler materials, rather than increasing in complexity, Evolutionary scientists are clearly aware of the rigidity of this natural law, yet continue to maintain that by adding extreme amounts of time and energy to a single-celled organism, the formation of life occurred in opposition to the natural laws of the universe. The question now raised considers whether the simple addition of energy and time is enough to bring about life.

Take under consideration an organism in decay. A once living organism, such as a cell, will possess all the materials necessary for life even after it has died. Based on the theory of evolution, it would stand to reason that an organism could be regenerated after death by simply adding sufficient amounts of energy; but, this is not the case. Rather, the "internal organization [of a deceased organism] decreases" with the addition of energy (Taylor, 1995, p. 9). In fact, increasing energy levels speed up the decomposition process, explicitly contradicting the evolutionary train of thought.

It is clear to see that the Big Bang theory simply does not work. Even if evolutionists were able to answer questions concerning the origin of the Big Bang, they could not possibly dispute the very laws of nature that can be observed today.

The Big Bang theory that science revealed recently as an explanation of how the world came to existence was mentioned in the Quran more than 1400 years ago.

I agree with "mibandibee". God created the world. I'm gonna continue on where they left off. If you continue reading in Genesis chapter 2 you find this:

The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

19 Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.

But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

23 The man said,
"This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman,'
for she was taken out of man."

24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

I am a Christian and I know that God made the world in seven days. However, I also know that calenders have changed through out the years and it was probably not seven days as we think and I do also believe in the "Big Bang Theory" Who is to say that God wasn't the one to do that. The bible does not go into specifics on how He created the world it just said that He did. I believe that science and religion go hand in hand.
