The money can be good, but one things almost for sure, if you're not already an alcoholic, chances are you will become one. If you are already, then you might as well make money doing it.
Don't go to school for a degree because most bars won't hire you because they want someone that they can teach their methods for bartending instead of the textbook way.

Don't waste your time on bartending school. Most bar managers would laugh at you if you had bartending school on your application.
Assuming you are old enough, get a job in a small bar as a part time bartender. If you can't get a job bartending, get a job as a waiter/waitress or barback and work your way in. Generally there is a lot of turnover in restaurants/bars so you won't have to wait long.
Generally speaking, bartenders make more than waitstaff. I have a friend who works 4 nights a week and claims to make over 50k a year. I don't doubt him a bit. I never made that much back in college but it more than paid for my way through school.

Don't waste time in bartending school-just buy some nice jeans and tight tops and apply at sports bars/busy places around where it looks fun-95% of it is beer and simple drinks-rest you can learn easy.
try it for a while before spending big money on school that really won't help you get anywhere-all about working hard/having fun and looking good.
As for the money-prolly 1000$ week easy, more if your in really busy place-less for lil corner bar. Forget the big hotels or chain places-no money at all most of the time.

bartending is an awsome profession. go into it only if u care to be a good one. you can earn upto $1000/ + a week if yoou find the right spot. there are plenty of courses around but you cannot beat hands on experience. try starting off in a bar and begin your learning curve from there. all the best

I didn't take any schooling or anything for it. I found a bar willing to take on a new person and just busted my *** learning everything i needed to know. I'd still be bartending, but i don't like the hours, i have a 2 year old and i enjoy my evenings with him. :)

Start as a bar back and work your way up. that is the only way to learn how to be a bartender. Or have big boobs and a low cut top that is the way everyone is getting hired around here.

Just go to a busy place and ask to learn. You may have to work a service bar for a while but you will get there.
If you are hot, wear something skimpy and maybe give the manager a beandog, they will hire you on the spot.

Bartending schools are a waste of time. The money is good, depending on who your clientele is, and as long as you can do math in your head quickly and count change back you'll be ok.
