I think I have Strep Throat and/or the flu. Most possibly strep throat.

I have had a sore throat, fever, and painful tonsils for the last 3 days.

Today I woke up and found out that my uvula was twice its normal size! It is hanging so low that it rests on my tounge, which kind of makes me feel like vomiting. An ideas on how to attempt to cure this???

Is the enlargment of my uvula due to my strep throat/flu symptoms? For the past couple of nights I have been breathing through my mouth when I sleep (I wake up, having a dry throat). Any idea on how long this will last?

I have had it happen before to myself although I did not have strep throat. Antibiotics cleared it up the fastest. If you think you have strep throat go to your doctor today to have a strep culture done. Strep is highly contagious so you don't want to spread it by ignoring it. If it is strep and left untreated it could become something worse, possibly even meningitis. This early in the season flu is unlikely, though not impossible.

I had the exact same thing a month ago...I went to my Dr and was tested for strep..which came back neg. I was told that I have a real nasty virus..which there is no "pill" to take. I gargled with salt water and took benedryl to make me sleepy..it took 9 days to clear up on its own. Good Luck
By the way...my uvula is also large and my ENT suggested I get it reduced by laser(which i said no thank you too) I will always have that condition I guess...

Your throat is infected, that's why it and your uvula are swollen and painful. You could have strep or you could have tonsillitis, either way you need to get some medication from a doctor to treat it.

That is the tell tale sign of strep... It will only get worse without going to a doctor. It is highly contageous and you need antibiotics because it is a bacterial infection. Make an appt. right now before it leads to a more serious illness (trust me it will happen)

I know it's a scary feeling..that has happened to me a couple of times and I wasn't even sick!
I drank hot tea without sugar or milk just straight and it went away within a day.

Yes - and you should see a doctor about it because it can interfere with respiration.
