I find notes in her room, jurnol, e-mails, i've talked to her about this and even took her for help. All she does is sit and stare at the shrink. We are making no progress. I am afraid to leave her alone and even more scared to fall asleep at night. I find myself doing a patrol at all hours. Between myself and her brother we are getting no sleep because we take turns watching her. What to do. I work two jobs and can't be there all the time. I am on the verge of losing one job because I have to keep leaving when she won't pick up the phone. I have even hired a sitter to monitor her. I really need some help here.

Before this started what did she do for fun? Have you tried getting out of the house with her and just do something that she wants to do? 'Cause I really doubt that she wants to go see a shrink.

Find another doctor...one that she will talk to. Don't give up. Take a leave of absence from the job you are on the verge of loosing...this situation falls under the family leave act. You need someone to talk to as well, and probably your son. This can really stress out the entire family. Hang in there....

I would suggest finding a different therapist. If she doesn't feel comfortable talking to them she won't open up and talk. Find someone that she trusts and will confide in. Maybe she prefers talking to a female rather then male or male rather then female. You have to address this issue. Also is she taking any prescriptions? As some side effects of medication can be suicidal thoughts. Paxil and accutane have both been known to cause this.

You daughter is probably going through hormone hell and is depressed. Take her to a doctor for a thorough exam including blood work. Then see another counselor on a regular basis. Most importantly, let her know that you love her every day. It is a rough time being a young teen and so confusing! I remember it well! Make sure she is eating right and getting some exercise. Go for walks with her. I hope everything works out okay!

You said she is seeing a shrink. Maybe you need to schedule some time that you can talk to him. He can give you some guidance and help you deal with the stress that you are experiencing. You need to take care of yourself as well as your daughter.

If she is really a harm to herself or others and needs 24 hour surveillance - then she needs to be committed to a mental health hospital where professionals can give her the help she needs.

It's possible that she is depressed but not really intending to hurt herself. If that is the case, you need to continue to work with her to get help but you can relax a little, get some sleep and not rush home everytime she doesn't answer the phone.

Do you know what is the problem at all ?
What about moving to a different city ? It could be the environment she was exposed to.

Is she lonely all the time ? Get her a pet dog or something.

Take her out to the outdoor more often. Sunny days has some positive effects on human mental health.

If you feel the situation is that crucial, have you considered having her admitted to some kind of hospital or mental health facility where she will be unable to follow through on her threats/desires? I think that is what I would do if a member of my family were so deeply in trouble.

Check her into an inpatient mental rehabilitation facility. You can call your local hospital for recommendations. It may sound harsh, but it's much better than her trying to commit suicide. Email me at starringsarahas@yahoo.com if you want a personal story the is completely relevant to your situation.

How long has this been going on? If it is getting as bad as I am imagining... You may need to seriously consider checking her into the phsyc unit at the hospial. Maybe a "Wake Up Call" is just what she needs to snap out of this.

Is she having trouble in school? Just asking because maybe shes being teased in school. What you could do is take her to the doctor and tell the doctor the symptoms and she may be depressed. If she is, he might prescribe her anti-depressant medication. Hope this helps.
