Low end Tv-Vcr combos are made with soft metal and white plastic. They jump gears and break very easily.
When I worked in a service center, there were certain brands we would not touch due to the lack of service information, reliable support and parts. One would have to re-engineer it, way too expensive.

It's to expensive to have that repaired, sorry. Either hook up a diff. VCR to your TV/VCR or buy a new set-up. Probably wise not to buy a combo in the future so you have more options when something inevitably stops working.

There is something wrong with your VCR. You will need to get it fixed, or you can buy a new one.

This is one reason I wouldn't buy a combo. Have you tried using a cleaning tape on it? Might just be dust and muck.

They are so cheap now just scrap the one you have and get another. I have seen them for as low as $49.00. You should switch to DVD anyway. TV/DVD combos are about $100.00. But don't waste your money on the VHS because it's not worth it.

you could have bought a new one with the first service call. Is there no way to hook up an external one?
