Sweetheart, you can stay with me and my wife and do some free housework ( 1-2 hours per day) in exchange for room and board here in Vancouver, Canada.

Start here, get away from the UK, and then plan a trip to Asia...I have lots of books and have been to Asia 5 times. Flights here are cheaper than from over where you are.

STA travel are good, I've used them twice to travel and been pleased with the service they provide. They are a specialist Student / Young People's travel agents, but will also help other people. Even if they can't help with what you want (which I doubt) they will be able to give details of an organisation that can.

They have loads of information and can help you organise a trip and give you advice on how to get work as well. Being a travel agents they will try to sell you extras if you eventually book through them, insurance and other bits and pieces, but shop around before deciding as they may not be the cheapest for insurance in particular.

Good luck and have fun!

doing charity work is really expensive, stupid as it sounds, it can cost you anything upto around £2500 for a month or so, if you have the funds it would be a great idea.

http://wwoof.org is a brill web site for people who want to travel on a budget and is worldwide, you basically do a few hours of work a day in return for food and accomodation.

http://timebank.org is a good one for volunteering.

To book your travel arrangements try STA, they'll sort you out a bespoke itinery and give advice on insurance, vaccines, visas etc.

Have fun
