Check your local retail locations, in my town there's a ceramics/pottery cafe. For a fee you can paint a ceramic piece and they'll burn it and glaze it for you.
also, try doing some paintings and crafts since you already went to museums you probably saw something cool. What about an art reproduction?
Also, check the movies or the theater for a play.

Try putting together a scavenger hunt. You could send them on a "treasure hunt" through the house, leaving clues and treats along the way. Not sure how you feel about making it a competition, but you could have the 11 and 4 year old be a team, and the 8 and 6 year old be a team, and the team that finds all the items first is the winner. Cap it off with a grand prize, such as goodie bags, small toys, or to announce an upcoming special event that you are planning for them. For a twist on the same idea, you could even take a car trip and have them look for things while you're driving. This is great for sight-seeing, or long trips.

My kids are 13, 9, 6, and 8mths. We spent atleast 2 hours at the dining room table carving pumpkins the other day. They carved, used markers, paint, etc. We then cleaned the pumpkin seeds to bake in the oven (coat with butter/salt bake on 300 for about 40 min). Messy but fun. Not one fight between them: PRICELESS
We also go to the library. They have a whole row of computers rather then just one for everybody to fight over turns. Plus books, movies, CD's, etc - sometimes organized programs
We also went to the movies. Go to a craft shop and get styrofoam balls and supplies for X-mas ornaments. X-mas is almost here! We had Fall Break 2 wks ago - Good Luck!

Oh wow, the possibilities are almost endless. You could ...
1. Choose a story and act it out. Make your own production of "Lion King" or some other children's story, and preform it for Dad (Grandparents, ect) after supper.
2. Use construction paper and crayons/markers to decorate for Halloween. Cut-out pumpkin shapes and have the kids use markers/crayons to "carve" the faces.
3. Get pumpkins and actually carve them.
4. Have a donation day -- clean out all the closets, dressers and toy-boxes. Take any unused/unwanted items to a local womens' shelther or the Salvation Army.
5. Bake cookies together. You could also combine this with volunteering -- take the cookies to the local HeadStart (pre-school), the local women's shelter, and/or the local nursing home.
6. Have "pajama day". Everyone stays in their jammies and you watch cartoons together.
7. Have a "safari day". Everyone puts on his/her idea of a "Steve Irwin" costume -- shorts, t-shirt, goofy hat, sunglasses. Have one kid at a time, hide all the stuffed animal toys in the living room/play room while the rest of you hide your eyes -- don't hide them too hard our you won't be able to find them! Then go on a "safari" and try to find the animals. Make up silly "Steve Irwin" comments about how the flaming-pink octopus lives and survives in the "wild". "Oh, crickey! We found the very rare flaming-pink octopus! Look at it's fantastic colors. In the wild they can grow to be over 27 feet long!" Use your imagination, and have fun!
8. Get out catalogs and magazines, and start Christmas "wish" lists. The only rule is you can put anything you WISH on your list, but WISHING won't make it come true.
9. Get the kids to help write a story for Dad/Grandparents/Ect. Start with "once upon a time..." and go from there. Everyone works together to make the story line. Help the younger kids by writing for them, help the older ones by suggesting ideas to keep the story moving forward. Or you be the official "scribe" and you write down what the kids say as they tell the story. Then read the story back to them.
10. Volunteer at the local women's shelter or a nursing home or a day-care center. Sing a few songs, act our your story/play, be entertaining -- it makes the residents' day.
11. Have a "camping day". Sit the dining room chairs in the middle of the living room and cover them with a bed-sheet to make a tent. Everyone sits under the "tent" and tells stories. You can eat lunch in the "tent". Pretend that you're outside in the wild ... you can combine this with "PJ Day" and "Safari Day".
12. Have a house-cleaning day. Start with one room, and everybody works together to get that one room clean. Move onto the next room, and the next until the whole house is clean. Then go for ice cream as a treat!
13. Have a "backward day". Everyone puts on their clothes backwards. You have supper for breakfast and breakfast for supper. Everyone has to try to talk backwards and walk backwards.
14. If you have pets, have a "pet care day". Give "Fluffy" a bath, wash her food dishes, clean up her messes, brush out her fur, put ribbons in her hair, ect.
15. Use your imagination. All the fun things you wanted to do or did as a kid still apply. Have fun! :)
