Hmm...maybe the people who cheat weren't meant to be married in the first place. They should have thought of that
before they did the cheating. They are bored with being with
just one person, or they're doing it to spice up their sex life.
I don't know, you would have to ask people who do this. Those
are my guesses.

What do you mean endless fascination?

Are you implying that it happens more in western countries? If so prove it.

Are you implying that it happens less in eastern countries? If so prove it, given that the penalty for it is death I doubt people who engage in it are going to stand up and be counted. The activity is likely just as frequent, but hidden.

Honor killings, genital mutilation, burquas, headscarves, gender segregation, gender discrimination, etc mostly aimed at trying to prevent infidelity. Seems to me that eastern cultures are more "endlessly fascinated with infidelity".

Constantly asserting moral superiority is an expression of wounded vanity and insecurity.

I have noticed the same thing. I suspect that it has something to do with the difference between individualism versus collectivism. In individualistic cultures we tend to focus on personal success and failure. Infidelity is one of those rare opportunities where you get to display both your best (success at attracting another mate) and your worse (failure at being faithful) performance. It is really something to talk about. In collectivistic cultures, people are much more uncomfortable pointing out individual success and failure. Just a guess.

Christianity, christianity and christianity....... it is obsessed with sex of any kind and was started and kindled by celibate males who were afraid of women.

Back to edit my answer to point out to the ignorant that there is a big world out there, the Chinese, Indians, Japanese,Thais and so forth are all part of the Eastern culture, and I'm guessing those are the societies that the questioner is referencing. Austere Islam is from the Middle East and in South East Asia is completely different from the Arab variety.

I tend to agree with fourmorebeers.... the X-tians are the ones who teach everyone that everything in the world has to be black and white.

You have sex with one person (of the opposite sex of course) to whom you are married.... that's it... nothing else.

Life in reality is not that clear cut, so when someone feels that they might be having thoughts or needs involving anything other than the "approved" X-tian method, people give up and do things in hiding to fill their needs.

So instead of being honest with your spouse or partner about your feelings and possibly fulfilling fantasies together in a healthy manner, people assume they are evil and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

In other belief systems, they leave room for a person to be human, they understand the need for balance and, therefore, people feel less pressured to be "good". They turn their concerns to being true to themselves and honoring life in general and keeping things balanced.

When there are blurred lines, people tend not to adopt a role, like "I am evil" or "I am good", "I am faithful" or "I am unfaithful"... there is room for things between the two extremes.

If you listen to liberal media like CNN, you would be led to believe that. However, reality is far removed from television. That's okay. Most people from the middle east do not understand the West.
