I ran out of medication and since my mother died didn't have time to send in my mail in script... I called the doc and asked if I could stop by and pick up some samples... She said yes, stop in anytime. I went by her office, she didn't have a client and so she waved me to come into her office to get the samples... Since she knew my mom died we visited for a few minutes. I thought that was a nice gesture.... But, I found out later she charged my insurance company for a visit. I do not feel this was right.... What do you think?

Healthcare is a business. Gone are the days of the physician doing a favor for a patient, especially if you are one of the few blessed enough to have coverage...The samples were provided free to the doctor and given to you but she charged for the time it took her to do it. If you weren't out of pocket for the visit, be grateful. If the visit costs you more than your script, get your drugs filled and make sure you have them refilled before they run out...

Sorry for your loss....

No service should be considered free. Especially from professionals whose time is money. In future, when you call her up for similar reason be sure to also ask her if she would be charging the insurance company so that you do not suffer from heart burn later.
