My guy is Babe, Baby, Darlin, or Honey - not too foo-foo for a very manly man & not too cutesy either. Don't call him something around his buddies or out in public that might get him teased; he really won't appreciate that.

Be careful with nicknames: "cute" and "loveable" names are unlikely to win you any points with a boyfriend, especially when out in public.
My bf and I are in our 40's, and we only use nicknames to be silly - usually, it's based on an inside joke. For example, sometimes I refer to him as "The Master" because he's so good at what he does in bed. That's something I can say in public, doesn't embarrass him by being too girly, and nobody else knows what we're talking about.
Those are the kinds of nicknames that tend to work best, because you won't slip up and say it at the wrong time by mistake and embarrass him or make him mad. Take some time to think about your relationship and what's unique about it, and come up with something fun from there. That also makes the nickname unique to him - and he'll know it. Nobody wants to be called by the same nickname that you used for someone else!
