It is not racism. It is a fact of life that whites came here first. What Asian or Hispanic groups fought in the Revolutionary war? How many blacks were the in 1776, how many had education to lead the country. A latino president or a hispanic president would not be voted into office. We have no faith in them as we can see by see neighbors to the South. You should wish for an Indian President to be even more corrupt that what we already have? Besides, they waffle so much that nothing would ever be solved. The Chinese are too clever and would decline, they are more interested in making money the real way...they work for it! A black president will happen when the right man comes forward. If we could stop this race bashing and look at the quality of the man, then, we will have a black president. Colin Powell would have had my vote. Don't make schisms where none exist. Things are changing...but we need to see responsibility, education and a lot more than people chanting racism. We have had some infamous blacks that were elected and then hurt their own. We have tried to work with Latinos and the corruption and drug smuggling hasn't slow an iota. While I think that Bush is not a good leader...he was elected and failed in his job, but so did others...they had the qualifications and responsibilities, but failed in judgement. Do you think it is wise to take even a greater risk with a minority and then watch people swing against him at the first crisis?

There has only been one or two Blacks that have run. I don't think I've ever seen an Latino, Asian running. They have to run and get the votes to become President. That's not racism that's called voting.

The elections are for any one that wants to and can afford to run for president.ANY ONE can do it if that's what they want.We are a democracy and the people/electoral votes elect the president. It is not a biased thing its more fair that most elections are in any country.I'm sure that in the near future this country will elect a president of another gender and heritage.
Presidents must be elected because they want whats best for this nation, not by gender or race alone.

Why do people only think of racism first ,its so damn stupid. The race card is old worn out and has no effect any more on intelligent people. We need a strong smart president that will protect this Nation from all invaders and I don't give a damn what race he/she/it is ,that will get my vote.

If you want a black president, you should vote for one.

In my lifetime, the only high profile black candidate for president was Jesse Jackson.

It wasn't his blackness that kept him from the presidency, but the fact that most people think he is a complete joke. So, perhaps, if we had a viable candidate who happened to be black (or Hispanic or Asian) he (or she) could win.

yes it is fair.
#1 the majority of this country is white.

#2 I think that when whiles are no longer the majority, then there will be the first black president (if you don't count Slick Willie)

#3 however I don't believe that racism is involved. I believe votes vote for the candidate who best represents them. (at least conservative voters do)

to prove that whites don't vote for only whites and blacks don't only vote for blacks, ext....,, I offer to you that a black man has run for president and he got no votes (as a percentage) if racism was involved wouldn't he have received closer to 12% points?

PS oh I forgot only white people are racist.

wow... there are a lot of ignorant and/or backward-thinking people posting answers around here.

no, i don't think it's fair; however, not much in American history has been fair.

up until now, white people have been in a huge majority, but that majority is now lessening. soon, white people will be in the minority. i have to believe that, at that point, we might be able to elect someone based on ability rather than on money and friends/family connections. until then, we just have to keep voting for the best candidates available and know that one vote for them is one less vote for whichever hand-picked goon will actually win.

It probably was racist a decades ago and before since blacks couldn't even gain their freedom. We had wars with Amerindians. But because white European descended Americans fought for the rights of every race, unprecedented in history by any other race, all Americans have a right to vote and run for President. It doesn't mean we have an obligation to vote for them just because they in a minority race.

It may not be fair, but it should be no surprise. White men represent the power, and they intend to keep it. There is no overt effort to keep black men from being president, so it shouldn't be called racism.

So obviously we can draw the conclusion that none we know of are qualified for the position. Jesse Jackson tried, but was not qualified. All you need is like minded voters.
