It was probably Tianjin. See below for Wikipedia description. The pinyin spelling when you enunciate it is near the same as Tien sien.

This city, Tiensien, was know under that spellling in the first half of the 20th century, and is now called Tianjin.

I would think that it is Tian Jin (A little south east of Beijing)
