why he keeps calling me a friend and saying only about friendship so far in this relationship?

i found him online and we talked thru YM and he always reply my emails and also send me so many e cards. He shows his interest on me then by the time i felt i love him and have a hope on him. He notice this. but the weird thing, he always call me his friend, best friend. and his cards always about frienships. i tried to reply wid love cards, he never mention about it. While actually he knows i am expecting more serious relationship and i have reveled that truly i am in love wid him, well he keeps around me but everytime i give sign that i want serious relationship, he seems away. but he ...keeps around me...it makes me confuse and give me no idea of what he wants. So what s this 'friend' means guys? anyone knows?
