they should not make that promise, but they still should enjoy how they feel about each other, they just have to have a realistic attitude.

It really depends on the 2 people involved and the depth of their relationship. Sometimes it's easier to say things than to do them but if it's meant to be then everything will work out in the end.It will take commitment and effort from both of you to carry out a long distance romance but it can work.
