I like candles that smell like pumpkin pie and other scents that smell like the holidays. I like the scent to be strong enough and smell long enough.

I haved worked at Yankee Candle for years, and let me tell you that I have 100% faith in our candles!! They have strong scent (not an overwhelming, headache strong) and they last a LONG time. I have had my Cinnamon Appleberry jar for over a year, and I still have 1/2 left (I burn it for about an hour or two just to get the scent, then I blow it out so I can save it!) I advise you get a large jar, though. The large jars burn over double the time of a medium, and they are only $3.00 more. It's well worth it!

Also, we sell something called an "Illuma Lid." It sits right on top of a medium or large jar, and it: helps to catch soot, is decorative, and helps to reduce the flickering of the flame (caused by drafts), which in turn, makes the candle more efficient when burning and makes it burn for evenly. The Illuma lid is 9.99, but WELL worth it. I have one, and I switch it around with my different jars...

For fall, some good scents are: Pumpkin Pie, Spiced Pumpkin, Harvest, Autumn Wreath, Autumn Leaves, Macintosh, etc...
For Thanksgiving, Cranberry Chutney is a big seller...
For Christmas (or the holidays): Balsam and Cedar, Christmas Eve, Christmas Cookie, Feliz Navidad, Sparkling Vanilla, Sparkling Cinnamon, White Chocolate Mint, etc...

My advice: go into a Yankee Store and smell the candles. Yes, you can buy them online, but you can't smell them online. And yes, places like Hallmark have our candles, but it is a poor selection compared to what you can get at an actual Yankee store. Go to the Yankee website and check for a store near your location. They have many stores. There will be a Colombus Day sale on, I think, November 11th. So you may be able to find some good deals...
GOOD LUCK and HAPPY HUNTING! :)

ALSO!! Here is a tidbit. Many stores (I have heard Target is one) only soak the top part of the wax in scent. So when you open the jar, you can smell the scent. But once you burn through the top 1/4 to 1/2 of the jar, it loses scent because they don't soak their wax all of the way through. That is one of the reasons Yankee's have such great scent is because they soak them competely! :)

Yankee Candle Company are really good, and so are the ones from Home Interiors. The ones from Walmart keep their scent if you buy the smaller candles, but the larger ones seem to lose their scent before they are all gone.

Pier 1 has the best scents, but the wicks are often poorly placed.

Yankee Candle Company makes good candles, but their scents can somtimes be overpowering. Their pumpkin pie scent is pretty good.

Yankee candles or Bath and Body Works. I just bought a great Autumn Pear candle from there. They also had a Pumpkin and Apple scent new for this fall.

Yankee Candle is my favorite. Yes, they're a bit pricey, but I LOVE their holiday tealights collection, I always make my husband take me there when we go shopping for holiday candles.

White Barn Candle co. (Now with Bath and Body Works) is REALLY nice, too. They have an AMAZING mimosa scented candle that is absolutely to DIE for. SO yummy.

I'm going to have to hit the mall this weekend to do some pre-holiday candle shopping! :-)

I think Yankee Candle makes the strongest scent but, they really emit a lot of soot. If you use those covers that keep soot down, then you also keep the scent down. I just don't burn them often and don't put them too near lamps or under anything for that matter. Yankee Candle has a website too.

The best smelling candles are Gold Canyon Candles. Hands down, they smell 100% better than Yankee Candles, Scentsy, or Bath & Body works. They are affordable, stylish, and come in over 100 different fragrance combinations. Once you try them there is absolutely no comparison. I get mine from https://apollo.mygc.com
