Maybe I'm not very familiar with the NT, but where does it say Jesus had wooly hair? (honest question - not trying to start something)
As to the rest of your question, I think Christ probably was more dark skinned than a lot of the pictures I've seen that depict Him. As for the movie, who knows. It's difficult to say whether people went to see the movie because of Mel Gibson's name, because it was a movie, because it was a Christian movie, to tear apart every little thing that didn't fit with their version of Christianity, or any of the other umpteen gillion other reasons it could have been that it was so popular. Some people said they went just to show the movie producers that more Christian movies need to be made, and that once they bought their ticket they left because they couldn't take the violence depicted in it.
Now, do I think it would have gotten as much press if they had a black man play Jesus? No. But I also think that if they had a well known actor playing Him (even if the actor was blonde haired blue eyed) it wouldn't have done well either.
The fact is, it did do well, and at least for a while there were more Christian movies in the theater.

The Bible does not say that Jesus was a man with wooly hair. That is a picture of Jesus in heaven. The "white as wool" symbol depicts wisdom and dignity.

Jesus was a Jew. Probably dark hair, dark eyes and darker skin than Anglos. Not a problem for any believers that I know. I think you're trying to make it a problem.

OH NO! You would have such an outcry.I am white and know Jesus had to be of a darker color.I know when I talk to people and it turns to that subject some start to wig when I tell them that Jesus had to be darker. It really is a shame, most of the people around the world love GOD and Jesus, and we can't get along. We are all GODS children therefore brothers and sisters.I would love it if GOD pulled back the clouds for a sec and yelled down in an earth moving voice .KNOCK IT OFF.

Yes, because it's Jesus.

Where in the Holy Bible is Jesus described with woolly hair?

((Yes, I know he's Jewish...olive skinned; dark hair and eyes.))

Where does it say "woolly hair"?
I wouldn't mind, I actually like the idea of Christ being a man of color. That would shut all the racists up.

I know of no passage in the new testament that states he had woolly hair, he would have had olive skin though, and the important thing is his message, and if that does not touch you what does his appearance matter.
