The rest of my body is not too fat, size 12-14, so why the big legs? I used to have varicose veins, is it fluid retention due to bad circulation or something? Though to be honest the offending limbs do look cellulitey if I squeeze them though! Even when I lose weight the legs, particularly calves, always look out of proportion, Hate it! What can I do apart from wear flares?

Marilyn Monroe was a size 16, saying 12-14 is utter B/S. And yes, fat is fat, everybody has it, but not everyone is considered "fat".

People put weight on in different places. Most women put it on around the hip/thighs area, but that isn't to say some don't put it on in different places.

Do some soft aerobic stretches for your calves. I'm sure you'd find lots with a little research. :) There are machines at my local gym which when you adjust the ramp or resistance, tells you what area you're working out. Higher ground benefits your buttocks and top thigh muscles (quadriceps?) so perhaps walking on flat ground would work. Sorry I can't remember, but perhaps investing in a gym membership or trainer would be good for this.

Good luck! :)

Legs seems to be the hardest when it comes to changing the proportions thereof. Fluid retention may be part of the reason, and so could poor circulation. Cellulite doesn't usually appear in the lower part of the leg, as much as in the thigh area. And since you're not going to go around in public squeezing your calves -- at least I hope not -- don't be too concerned about that.

Wearing high heels gives an illusion of a slimmer calf muscle when you're wearing a knee-length dress. So do dark hose. For an even better cover up, try a longer dress length. And when you're wearing trousers, of course, there's no problem as long as they are not too tight-fitting or too clingy. You don't necessarily need to wear flares, although they are extremely flattering on everyone. Try also, a tailored straight leg or a wide leg pant. They do the best job of camouflaging a thick calf. Make sure they're long enough to at least cover the top of your shoe. Avoid capris like the plague. They look terrible on everybody. And finally, dear, play up your best features; a slim waist, nice boobs, pretty face, or lovely hair. Everyone has at least one best feature. And just be glad you have two healthy legs you can walk on. I have a dear friend who's confined to a wheelchair. She'd be grateful for any kind of calves -- even fat ones -- if she could walk.

It won't be fat, its probably muscle, i thought I had fat calves, (ie they wobbled!) But I started cycling everywhere & hill walking and I now have FIRM calves!! And I think the girl who said she was a size 7 is from the USA & a US size 7 is anywhere froma 10 - 14 depending on what make...its normally a size 12, I wear alot of Dickies (bought from USA) and they are a size 5 up to a size 7, so shes prob the same size as you!!
12-14 is REALLY DEF. not fat AT ALL..!
Get your bike out!!

ok to the person who said a 12-14 is fat needs to take a flying leap, what a bitchy thing to say. I'm a 14 and I do not consider myself fat by any means.

To tone calves I've learned that the more I walk especially up hills the toner my legs get, I've always had think calves. Just work at it it will happen. Don't listen to the idiot who thought 12-14 is fat, she has issues.

Ehm..
You cannot get rid of the dimples and shadows (cellulite) by rubbing an odd gel, weird lotion or goopy cream on your trouble zones and problem spots. I know that some can actually make your cellulite worse. The only proven way to permanently get rid of the dimples and shadows of cellulite is through a series of simple, yet specifically targeted lower-body movements. These unique movements focus on lifting, shaping and toning the muscle layers so they gently push outward against the skin to bring back the smooth, tight and sexy appearance, while burning off any excess flab, if there is any.

You can slim them down by doing stretches and step aerobics but for a quick fix tan your legs and put a little shimmer cream down your shins and that detracts attention from your calves and makes your legs loog great no matter what size they are!

Make your individual low-fat ice cream using icy bananas and peanut butter or even luscious cherries and chocolate.
