Old age probably got your pug.Believe me it is the best
way for a pet to go. To die in its sleep. Than nobody
has to decide to your pug to sleep.I am sure you will
all see your pug in heaven. The Bible says "the lamb will lay down with the lion in heaven". I lost my doberman
who had just turned 11 and he died in his sleep.Only
God knows when ,why, what time your pets will die.As long
we gave them the best life we could,we will see them all in heaven someday.

It depends on how old the Pug was and if it was up to date on "ALL" vaccination/deworming.If you owned the pet for a long time, then it could have been greeving for you,but with being overweight sounds like maybe a problem somewhere, but of coarse Pugs tend to have breething problems ,because of the structure of their nose. The pet could have eaten something like a piece of plastic bag, etc,as this will cause a dog to die,or maybe it was injured by the children someway, and would depend on its' surroundings after it left you.

I would ask myself how old are the kids he was playing with and whether you trust them. Sometimes young children unintentionally cause damage by trying to pick up or otherwise handle a small dog.

What's a pugh? A pug? They do have breathing difficulties sometimes and perhaps he hyperventilated.

I think something else happened to the dog, unless he was very old? What was his age? If he was young and in good health, he shouldn't have just died in his sleep.

If you'd like to know, your vet could do an autopsy to see what happened, if you really want a definitive answer.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Perhaps the person was not an appropriate PetParent.

i think of, the best thing approximately death in the process the sleep is that the loss of existence is painless and unperturbed. the disadvantage of death in the process the sleep is that the being keeps to be unaware and unenlightened with reference to the technique of the main suitable experience that occurs after the beginning.
