Go see a doctor. I had carpal tunnel surgery done, and although it addressed the mild numbness I had, it did not fix the pain I had in my wrists and thumbs; so I had more than one problem.
What you have sound like repeated strees injury, a tendinitis.
Get yourself chair armrests (dn if you already have, position them properly), make sure that the keyboard and mouse are positioned such that you do not have to move a lot to type and use the mouse.
A splint can help, so can anti-inflamatory drugs and painkiller, but the best advise is for you to go see a doctor, and perhaps also have your workspace evaluated by an egonomist. You have to stop doing what hurts you the way you are presently doign it.

I can tell you from self experience that at its worst stages you WILL NOT sleep at night because of the pain. I had severe numbness and tingling. The pain however was more in my fingers and forearm than the wrist. The surgery was a Godsend!
No more pain since. Get in touch with a nuerologist. They have amazing tests that will pinpoint your exact problem. Dont wait do it asap. GOOD LUCK!!

Also could be arthritis. Try over the counter pain relievers if you have not already done that.
Also as the nurse said you should try a wrist splint. They are fairly inexpensive at drug stores, discount dept stores, etc.
Best idea, which NEVER works for any of us busy people, is rest.
How are we supposed to do that in this day and age ?
Hope you get better soon.

Yes, the carpel nerve gets compressed and causes pain, numbness, tingling and burning.
