Heyya folks.
I got this die-hard Ford fan buddy of mine and some where, some place he got this idea that Ford was or is in the process of buying Chevy. Seeing as how Ford is having financial trouble as it is, how can they possibly do this?
I've done a preliminary search on the internet and I haven't found anything. If anyone here can give me evidence of "Ford buying Chevy", I'd appreciate it, as I'm going to send my buddy an e mail to the contrary, and tell him his uneducated hick rump is full of pig excrement.

There is no concievable way that your friend is right. They simply do not have the market capitalization to do this. And NOBODY is going to loan them money to do it either. Their credit rating is now at a junk bond status.

Chevy is one of the marque names for GM and GM wouldn't sell it at all... Also Ford doesn't have the money to buy GM or even the other way around.

As others have said, a Ford/GM merger would be nice to see.. but it's speculation more than anything...

Ford will be going thru some very rough times in the near future... But sometimes companies need to be leaned out when demand isn't there (there is talk of bringing some of the european cars to the US market to excite people again... Or have some cars based on volvo)

Ford is just restructuring they are closing down there Navigator plants and the big SUV are not selling well due to fuel economy, article in the new stated that they are giving $15,000 to each employee for college tuition for 5 years and 70 % of there salary if they decide to go back to school (or if they start selling them again they want the family back)and or $ 100.000.00 dollar golden hand shake, they get to chose They are not going broke they are just making the company smaller in ways to make profit they are not doing what GM did and just put all there employees on a permanent vacation 50,000 of them and sent all there vehicles to be made in Mexico if anyone buys anyone I herd this as well it will be Ford Buying GM , GM is Falling Bad right now, Ford lost 34 % sales in the larger SUV's due to fuel prices But is still going to make There trucks and smaller Economically fuel savers and hybrid vehicles , GM brought Toyota over here and at one time owned a portion of Toyota now Toyota is slamming GM and well that's what they get for doing that, now Toyota will be in the NEXTEL CUP series in NASCAR racing against all real American cars and well...........................Toyota may be assembled here but there cash still goes to Japan, great question and ford will go on into history the few the proud the fords

Of course not, it would be all over the news. Theres no way GM would sell thier main nameplate to thier biggest rival. Ford is also in the most financial trouble of any manufacture and could not afford Chevy. GM sales have gone up 70% from last year, and the Saturn Aura should help make profits from the booming sedan market. (believe me, its one attractive car that no one expected). With Dieter Zeiche DiamlerChrysler should be able to turn itself around. Dont believe him, tell him Kia is buying Ford

I work for Ford and there is nothing to it.
The two chairmen spoke briefly, as they often do.
That is all that happened.
We have a new CEO that is kicking *** , and we will be back.

Ford is in discussions about taking their company private.. When companies of this size do that they are desparately trying to stay afloat. GM's financial condition is quite a bit better.

it comparison the DOW the US auto industry has been going into a slid while the DOW continues to make improvement.

I think it pretty unlikely Ford would be able to swallow GM let alone any portion of it.

That's insane, it will never happen! Chevrolet is a legendary marquee, it certainly doesn't need Ford to destroy it...Ford has already destroyed themselves, they can't afford to destroy another automaker. In short, Ford isn't buying out Chevrolet.
