If the dog who pees in the house has done it too many times, there really is nothing that will get rid of the smell other than replacing the carpet. Once the urine smell has been set in the carpet too many times, it impossible to remove. You need to have that dog trained better or you're going to be replacing your carpet every 4 months. I don't think you want to do that. However, for the dog that sheds a lot, the only thing I can tell you is to brush him every day. brushing takes a lot of the loose fur out. bathing helps too. Maybe once a week or every 2 weeks. My dog sheds a lot too. I have to brush him and my cat every day. The shedding stays to a minimum and from there I just vacumm my house every other day. I'm sort of a clean freak. lol. anyway, i hope this helps

This may seem harsh but the next time the dog does this rub his nose in it, then throw him outside. I have had 25 dogs over my lifetime and it works every time.
You will need a carpet cleaner to get rid of the spot. Buy one or rent one from the store.

I work at a carpet cleaning company. The only way for you to get rid of the odor is to replace the pad underneath, then have the carpet professionally cleaned.

I usually get my carpet professionally cleaned. There are also products in places like PetSmart of PetCo that have some excellent urine removal products!

I agree with Sharon T, the only other suggestion I can add would be to clean the spots first and then in a few days or so use a steam cleaner on the rug. Good Luck.

Enzymatic cleaners are the best.
I like Nature's Miracle. You can get it from most pet stores. It is natural and will remove smell as well as stains from pet urine.

Natures Miracle is good for both stains and odor. Shot spot is great at taking out ANY stain but not odor so much. I recommend both.

I use a product from Petsmart called "Get Serious." It works really well. I don't have any dog stains.
