I work for a bank and to be fair the only thing I really needed to work there was my Maths and English GCSE. My degree was a waste of time! However most of the people I work with have at least a few A Levels.

I think first and foremost you have have decide which department in the bank do you want to work.
Do you want to go into retail banking?
Do you want to work in corporate banking?
Do you want to work in investment Banking? amongst others.
Banks have various sections you can work in, there's the legal section, accounting, finance programming and acqusitions and mergers. There are lot of areas in the bank and they all require different skills.
But through all this, the basic underlying requirement is analytical skills, people skills, team work ability, eye for detail and honesty amongst others.
Most people at banks nowadays read philosophy and political history and courses like that.
But I'll advice you to try Accounting, Law, Economics and Mathematics and also do a professional course like CIMA,LLB CIPD and ACB. These professional courses increases your earning power and allows you to work in any bank and any area in the bank.

I'd just look at the business degree track and take any course from that. That would included Business Management, Accounting, Statistics, etc. Good luck!

In addition to the usual Maths, English and Geography passes, you will benefit from having a couple of European languages and good results in the Bank's own in-house examinations.
Good luck! (Buenas suerte!)
