Honesty is usually the best way. Maybe over a nice quiet dinner, or a walk on a clear moonlit night. It may sound weird, but anytime that mood is relaxed.

tell him "i don't want this so much that i'm gonna get mad at you for not wanting it, but, i have to be honest... i want to have a baby. but, i really want you to feel the same way, so if you don't than i'm ok with it."
guaranteed even if he sais no at first, give him like two days and he will want to. try and pressure him and get mad, he'll just get upset and there will be conflict and you'll feel bad and he probably will take way longer to come around and admit he wants one too.
and he might say yes.
either way, he'll appreciate the honesty, but the freedom and respect.

get some baby magazines, sit on a couch or bed during a quiet moment with him there and start rifling threw some cute baby pictures and say lokk isent this that one adorable owe look at the fat cheeks on so ans so owe whast a cute smile!!

You can very well say it directly, there's nothing wrong. Otherwise jus say that we need to earn still more to meet up the expenses of our future family aspirants or ask him what is needed to make our family, a good,happy and complete family, as only childrens complete a family.

we are getting old and we should have a baby before it's too late.
of course if you are 18, then that won't work.
How about, lets get our family started early so we won't be so old like all the other people that have kids
