Live and Let Live is a concept that can only be applied to a humanist. If you consider yourself the only God in your universe then live and let live makes perfect since. However, if you believe in a God then it is then possible to offend that God with your actions. Live and Let Live moves from only public acts to your private seemingly inconcequential lifestyle. If your actions offend the creator then what your doing is wrong.

Once again I'm sure the answers to this question will further prove that hate of theists is the last acceptable form of bigotry.

No morality is based on what Allah has told us to be right and wrong. I must do what Allah tells me is correct for my life. I don't depend on the actions or belief's of others to validate my belief's. By your reasoning it is wrong to steal only if the person being stolen from is affected. If there is no effect on them at all either because they did not notice or they did not need the thing that was stolen the it is OK. That is wrong.

Yes, morality allows us to live amongst each other. Each of us develops a sense of what we consider right and wrong. When we meet other people, we have to sort of negotiate what is right and wrong between us to establish any communication. The closer our moralities agree, the more intimate that association can be. A hermit really doesn't need to develop any moral rules. I suppose that moralities can also be developed for interaction with animals, to a certain extent, also.

When you want to buy something from a clerk, that commonality doesn't have to be too strong. It is sufficient to establish the rules for the deal being made. If you are in a romantic relationship, your moralities should be very close to each other, or this will be a severe source of friction in the relationship.

This is rather labor intensive, so societies have shortcutted this process through the development of laws. That sets a default morality for us to use to interact with each other.

Religion likes to claim to be the source of morality, but this is demonstrably not true. First, morality can be shown to predate any current religions. Secondly, people in those religions tend to still have a widely varying morality. If anything, religion makes a person morally lazy by spoon-feeding its outdated rules to members and discouraging any real thinking about why something is right or wrong. I frequently find that religious people have a hard time discussing why something is right or wrong without just defaulting to "God said so" or something equivalent. No fixed set of rules applies to all situations, and society evolves over time which changes what is right and wrong in society. So, it is much better to have open discourse on what is right and wrong in various circumstances without just defaulting to old books and ceasing any discussion.

And I disagree that hate of theists is the last acceptable form of bigotry. A recent study shows atheists to be the least tolerated religious sector and the most tolerant of other religions. So, if any bigotry is allowed in this country, it is against atheists.

God how I love to here the oppressor bleat about being oppressed. All the world is full of theists, and they bray and blather about being victims. GTFU.

Let's say I'm a moron, so I believe there is a creator. Why is offending the creator wrong? Who asked for their opinion? Did I ask to be created? No. Does this creator care if it offends me? No. Does this creator do anything for me if I ask? No. if the creator doesn't like it I suppose it has the power to do something about it, but otherwise it can kiss my ****. If it's the being presented in scripture, it is a very stupid and insane and hateful creature indeed. Murdering women and children. Torturing those who offend it for eternity. Rewarding those who flatter it with an eternity in which to continue flattering it.

Ethics and morals are all about relationship and nothing more because people are real and your deity is just made up by a guy named Ezra.

Morality is a code of conduct. Laws that help people live harmoniously. In that sense, God or religion doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it. Ultimately when individuals rise above the code and live consciously and compassionately, the code ceases to have much meaning. The code being based on conscious living is just a guide.

I ask God to guide me in my daily journeys. I ask him to guide all my thoughts and deeds, words and actions. If during the day i do something i feel like it could have been done differently, i keep in mind that i asked God to guide me that day and i hope that my action will be the cause of something greater to happen. I never blame the devil either. I think people give him too much credit for evil deeds.
We have to take responsibility for all our actions.
I hold nothing against theists. Just do not try to force your belief upon me as i am not trying to force mine on them. It gets me angry when christians tell me that i need to find Jesus though and i need to accept him as my lord and saviour. I have a lord already, jeusu' father and i do not need a saviour, i am not dying. Nothing is wrong with me for that matter.
I do not think i offend God when i am being myself. Did he not make me this way. I look at it as i am just fullfilling my destiny. That's all.

You know, in my personal experience, and in my observation of others. I've noticed that even when people are as nice and agreeable as can be, there's still always going to be someone who gets angered and offended by them.

So, in short, I sure hope it's not based on how others are effected.
