what is the max. amount of file size that can be copied and pasted in xp?


for example can i copy a 6 gb image and paste it to some other location?

You mean that you want to copy the file. With a NTFS file system, you will have no trouble. That should work. It will just take a while. But a drive with the FAT32 format, the limit is about 4GB.

But let's say that you want to use Copy & Paste from one MS Publisher document to another; watch out for the recompression that it might go through. It would be best to insert the picture from the original. If it does COPY & PASTE, it will take a very long time.

Doesn't sound likely. Copy/paste depends on the amount of memory you have and the size alloted to the clipboard. Maybe if you "save as" to jpg format the size can be reduced somewhat.
You can only try.
