NO. Under the New Covenant, there is no requirement that Christians must tithe. It would be impossible to do even if we wanted to, since the Mosaic Covenant (which never applied to gentiles then and certainly doesn't now) REQUIRES that tithes be given to the Temple for keeping in the storehouse. There is no other earthly Temple except our bodies (1 Cor. 3:16). There are no NT passages that equate the Temple with the local church. There are also no NT examples of Christians (Jew or gentile) titheing to their local church; instead, we see the local churches gathering money and food to give to the disadvantaged.
Under the New Covenant, we are commanded to give money and assistance to the poor, widows, orphans, fellow believers in need, and anyone else who asks. See Matthew 25:40, 1 John 3:17, 2 Cor. 9:6-15 for example. God has NO NEED to receive our money directly; what He does tell us, though, is that when we give to others, we are giving to Him. For that matter, the NT guidelines don't even require that we give money to these causes. We can give of our time and talents. For example, if a widow needs a window repaired and you do it out of your love for God and this woman, God considers that you've given to Him. Money isn't what He looks at; it's the HEART.
As others have pointed out, anyone who gives money to a church in order to receive something back just doesn't get the NT concept of giving to God.
Peace.

I think you are joking, but in my opinion the answer is NO. You only have to look at the millions of people that attend church regularly and tithe to see that is no so. Besides if you are tithing to get "lots of money" from God, you are tithing for the wrong reason.

pretty much every answer people have given you is wrong. Tithing does alow him to give you a return on your mony more than what you gave its called seed time and harvest and I works. When you soe something to anyperson or anything for the doing of the lord or just to bless someone then its God's requiremnt to pay you back

No but I can tell you that you will be following Gods will. but you need to understand one thing, he wants 10% of your all!!! Not just money, cause money itself isn't important. He wants your 10% of your special gifts or skills like singing, acting, playing an instrument. He wants you to freely give of yourself and what is yours, to share with those who have not.
I used to pay the bills then if I had money, Most of the time, I had more month left at the end of the money. Then I woke up one day and made sure God got his first. When I started tithing to the church, and then giving of my time and talents, I had more money left at the end of the month.

Some people have said that tithing has brought them lots of money. but you have to be sincire when you do it. if you do it just because you think God will bless you for it chances are it won't happen. tith and mean it when you do it.

No, its not the actual tithing that will bring you money (eventhought this is what most churchs want you to think when you give them your money) its the faith that you put behind it. You have to really believe in Christ to sacrific. Theres a story in the bible about a women who gave her last penny, that woman was blessed but not because she gave alot but because she gave her last penny. And she was blessed for the faith she had to give her everythng and her all.

Depends on your definition of 'lots' of money. God says to test Him in matters of tithes and offerings. You cannot outgive God.
Go ahead and try.

God said, test me in this if I will not open the floodgates of heaven. When we give tithes, it shows our obedience and confidence to God that He will bring back everything that we have cheerfully given to him. But blessings from him does not only mean money. Money can be one form, but the fact that we are still happy is a blessing because we save money compared to when we are ill. If we are in good shape, we also save money. If our house is still standing and not burned, we save money. Come to think of it, God uses many things to give us money, not in a form of cash, but in a form of savings.

It's a good thing, not a bad thing. If you're doing it for self-motivated reasons thinking it's going to bring you lots of money, you're strongly deceived. With the right intentions, it will bring you huge blessings.

While growing up, we were taught that your tithing would be given back threefold, but I haven't found any truth to this...I know when I give, it's from the heart, and I have been given great satisfaction from it...
