Put it in a bowl big enough so it's covered with water. Put it in the sink and keep the cold water slowly running on it in the bowl. This keeps the water from getting colder from the frozen meat and thaws a lot faster than leaving it sit. I do this all the time and it works well. Three pound should thaw in about an hour.

Fill your sink up with cold water and let it sit in there for a few hours, letting cold water run into the sink as well. It should thaw. We always did that when we wanted to defrost something and not wanting to put in it in the microwave.

To do it safely is overnight in your refridgerator. Anything else you'll be on your own. FDA recommends thawing under a cold environment. Another method is to thaw it in a plastic bag under running cold water. This should speed up your thawing process in time for dinner...safely!

Put it in medium cold water completely submerged. Change the water every half hour because the water will start getting too warm to be safe.

I've thawed Cornish hens this way in one day.

Bake or fry them. Cut them intmozzarellaand dspaghettiinto a honey-mustard, teriyaki, ranch, thousand island or marinara sauce. Serve them as burgers or wraps. (Latinos call that style torta de milanesa, but it is usually thin steak) Cut slices and top onto a salad, like the fried chicekn salad at Wendy's (okay, that is pushing it, I know). Add Italian cheese on top, serve whole with pasta and spaghetti. Or try Teriyaki sauce and rice. Use a cream soup as a gravy and serve with rice, noodles or mashed potatoes. Serve plain with scalloped potatoes. Pawn some off to friends. Food banks can't accept them because they are open, but if you get sick of them, friends might want to share.

Either method is good.I would choose the cold -bath method and leave it in the original package. It'll be fine. You could do this and sleep for 6 hours and the meat would be fine. The only faster method is defrosting it in the microwave.
