I don't know anything about liver disease, so can you guys help me out here?

My friends dog has liver disease, I'm not sure how serious it is, but is sounds like it's pretty bad. Her dog was suppose to go for surgery to help her out, but becayse the liver didn't get better the dog is not going for surgery now. So I was just wondering what will happen to my friends dog? Will she have to be put to sleep because of it or what?

Thanks!

My friends dog is probably between 7 months old and 1 year. My friend got her dog from an alchoholic guy. So my friend thinks that her dog Molly already had a bit of liver disease when she got her.

check the dogs food

if it contains BHT or BHA these are chemicals that have been linked to causing liver problems

also BY-PRODUCTS -(beaks feet feathers) are preserved with a Chemical Pesticide known as ETHOXYQUIN.. which is banned for human use and completely banned in some countries like Japan.. it is linked to causing a number of problems including liver disease....

the only person who I know who had such problems did have to euthanize the dog.. it also had cancer.. another wonderful thing caused by the 3 above ingredients in cheaper dog foods

Liver disease, like in people, can be very serious. I would suspect that if the vet feels that the dog may not make it through surgery or that it will do little towards curing the pet, then it is a matter of time before euthanasia. You don't mention the dogs present age but hopefully it has some quality time left with medications.

I just saw on TV that there is a physician in Hong Kong that uses TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and managed to cure her dog that had terminal liver cancer. She also use accupuncture for treatment. Her dog is 19 years now and still barking.
