This is very disturbing news. In addition to the following true story...
One son lost his watch, and was very upset. We dug and dug in those balls, trying to find the watch.

Instead, we found vomit, food, feces, and other stuff I do not want to discuss. I went to the manager and raised hell. Come to find out, the ball pit is only cleaned out once a month. I have doubts that it is even done that often. My kids will never play in another ball pit.

Actually I researched this.... and what you have is only 1/2 of the story. but it is another spam email. There is no truth in it. My mom sent it to me the other night. I too was horrified until i researched it. Here's the links.....

1. At the bottom of this page it talks about it. http://www.breakthechain.org/exclusives/ballpit.html

2. At the top of this link it gives you a description, as well as a status.

3. This one has a status at the top too.

If you want more information research it. There are plenty more sites out there saying that it is false.

All it pretty much amounts to is a sick person. Finding it funny to create stories like this.

Oh, sick!!!!! Well, I never liked those ball pits, even when I was a kid myself. The balls hurt your feet when you try to wade through them, and I always thought it smelled funny (now I know why, I guess!) Still, it seems sort of sad to rob a child of one of the greatest joys of childhood, the ball pit, because of how filthy and disgusting it is. I mean, think about all the gross stuff that goes on at amusement parks or in those jumpy castle things, but kids still love them. I remember when I was a kid, there was a fun maze at my local amusement park that always smelled like someone had just taken a leak in it, but we loved it anyway! My point is, I think it is great if you want to be an advocate for better cleanliness rules for children's amusement rides and games, but I also think it's important for the kids to have the total kid experience, germs or not. Just carry some Purell around and smear it on your little darling after he gets done playing, until the day that these places become better regulated by the health department.

Wow, that is really disgusting. My son goes to a chuck e cheese near my home. Thankfully there is no ball pit at this location. There are tunnels and different things they can crawl through, but he doesnt go in it. He plays with the other things they have. Also, I asked an employee once while there what happened to the ball pit, she told me most chains for Chuck E Cheese do not have ball pits. Due to health reason's, so ya never know. AS for ball pits. We bought one for our home and thats where my son plays. I clean it out often and know I dont have to worry.

Well if its true you have legal options. It is a highly dangerous area to get diseases. It should be against the law.The staff must have known but didint want to clean. Not saying you will but you should have the right to sue because it was so dangerous to get really sick.

If I were a parent I would save the time and money and buy my kids a inflateable swimming pool and fill it with balls.Making sure to sanitize them every two weeks or so.

What places that have ball pits should do is find a invention that will let them hold all the balls and clean them with hot water and soap.and maybe a nice steam cleaning for the bottom of the pit.

This is an urban legend. You can probably find it on http://www.snopes.com

Also, most of those places have a cleaning schedule, they need to be cleaned every so often. I know that when hubby worked at Mcdonalds in high school it was cleaned quite frequently. Parents would always get upset that they could not let their kids play when they were cleaning it.

Unfortunately, I've already heard about this. I don't let my daughter play in those things. They are nasty. Not to mention some parents don't keep there kids clean, so they're spreading their germs around as well. Call me overprotective, but I don't want my daughter exposed to that. I have a friend who talks about how germs help build up their immune system. Funny, her kids are always sick. My daughter is 16 months and has only had one cold. It's important for parents to wash their hands regularly to prevent the spread of germs to their kids and to teach their children good habits.

Yeah, I heard McDonald's started removing their ball pits precisely because the board of health was getting on their case about it. You never know what you'll find in there. Very disturbing!

Which one did this happen at? OMG that is disgusting!!!! But not surprising!

I think in the future when I have kids, I'll buy one of those at home ball pits, they do have them.

Even if it's NOT true, I think having your own at home would be better anyway.
