i am trying to find out where the shepards in rockingham came from (clyde+zill shepard)?

i want to know where the shepards come from i know there is faircloth, shepard, and my uncles spell their names different so i am so confused they said that we are indian and that they lived on the peedee river in rockingham and that they are also from england any help would be very helpful
