Not in the region of faith because I'm non-religious. I do believe in the phrase though. I fell off my bike going up a low curb and ended up with some light, barely visible scarring on my chin and wrists. For a long time afterwards I would avoid taking sharp corners or going up curbs, I was definately shy after being bitten.

any person who is rationalist and armed with scientific temper should believe in that saying once bitten other wise he will be fooled every time. one is to learn from experiences and should not commit mistakes again.
