the word milli means 1/1000

So to make up to one litre you got to keep adding a milli till the numerator equals the denominator.

By then you will have added 1000 milli litres

Metric has these standard words

Cent = 100
Century 100 years
centurian an army officer in charge of 100 men

Kilo = a thousand of what ever the suffix is
Kilogram = 100 grams
Kilo metre = 1000 metres
Kilo joules = 1000 joules of energy
Kilo bytes of computer memory except these are 1024 insted of 1000 because they are to the base 2

Kilo Newtons Force equivalent to 1000 Newtons
