Don't use lotion or gels.
In the winter, you need to switch to a heavier formula of moisturizer.
Try using a body butter or creme each morning and night.
Also, Badger Balm is wonderful..you can find it on the web. It's a heavy duty salve for really dry areas...like knees, ankles and elbows.

In addition to what you already are doing- drinking more water, using moisturizer- Keep the heat in yoour home a bit lower, and run a humidifer or a vaporizer- this adds moisture to the air which will help your skin from drying out so much from the heat and cold air.

I have found that Cetaphil cream works best-it lasts a lot longer than lotion. It comes in a tub & costs about $11, but it will last a long time... Apply right out of the shower while your skin is still moist

I would like to give you a good tip. Everybody thinks that you sort dry skin out topically. Well the secret is, to take your omega fatty acids, so that you can feed your body the oil from the inside. Ask any italian, and they never ever suffer with dry skin, because of all the olive oil they consume etc. Good luck, coz it can be uncomfortable

After shower, apply a light body oil while your skin is still damp. Massage gently. Wipe off the excess with a wet towel.

I know what works and it's Soy Pete lotions! Check them out because it is amazing! The lotion is made with soy and stays on your skin even through washing your hands over and over again! I love it! It fairly inexpensive too.

take plain petroleum jelly(vasoline) after the shower and you dry off ,rub into the skin it works great, does not cost much, and lasts a long time.also keeps skin young longer and does not come off on clothes. You don't use too much.
