He has to undergo a minor operation to trim off the flabby muscles inside the throat. This loose muscles choke his air passage leading to snoring. It is a laser treatment.
1. Let him use a raised pillow to sleep
2. Let him avoid drinking cold water/drinks/ Beer, etc.

Hi there
I sympathise as I am myself was a heavy snorer and one of my ex-wives snored up a storm.Like you i tried sprays etc .There is a simple treatment for snoring which can be performed in a doctors office that is the only sure cure.
The Doc cuts the soft palate very slightly with a lazer under a local anaesthetic. The resultant scar tissue stiffens the soft palate and prevents it from vibrating thus curing the cause of snoring.
The patient has very mild discomfit in the upper mouth and goes away after a few days.It is not expensive and is covered by medical aid or insurance Ask you G.P. about the procedure.
The disturbance snoring causes is not only highly irritating and will cause much friction between you and your fiance but also prevents the snorer from a good nights sleep.namely sleep apnea.
Do yourselves a big favour and get it done soon.

Go to bed and hour or two before he goes this way you are already in deep sleep and it shouldn't bother you. Keep a set of headphones on your night stand and play meditation a tape or CD load enough to drown his soring. Sorry to say you probably snore to you just don't realize that you do and mostly every man snores so you'd better get used to it is it worth leaving him over and or never being in a relationship b/c of it? You need to have the attitude that his snore puts you to sleep not keeps you awake, that it is peaceful not bothersome, try breathing with him instead of on your own rhythm. You could also take a sleeping aid if you feel you are not getting enough sleep at night and are drowsy during the day... Hope this helps you out, good luck!

Have you tried the Sandler Pillow? This pillow, by design, compels the sleeper to sleep on his/her side. Since sleeping on the side generally closes the mouth, this can prevent some kinds of mild snoring from occurring (the vibration is still there, but the snoring does not escape the mouth).
A number of oral appliances (brand names include The Silencer™ and the Equalizer™) are designed by medical professionals (including dentists) are available on the market, and are currently being used with success by millions of people around the world.
Oral appliances, which act either on the tongue or the jaw, are crafted to achieve a few main anti-snoring goals:
Keep the mouth shut, and thus prevent the emission of the snoring sound (due to vibration in the trachea)
Push the jaw slightly forward, thus preventing the tongue from falling backwards during deep sleep and thus obstructing the airway.
Enlarge the airway itself and enable a smoother inhale/exhale, thus reducing vibration
Some oral appliances are available over-the-counter in drug and health stores, but for serious snorers, a custom-fitted appliance is usually required (usually by a dentist).
Best wishes and good luck.

Your fiancee needs to see a Doctor (one that is for ear, nose, throat). There is a medical reason why he is snoring. If you have tried the nasal strips and they don't work then nothing else over the counter is going to. If the Doctor does not find anything (not likely) then he will probably refer you to a sleep disorder clinic for testing. There can be many reasons for snoring.
Good Luck!

Yeah mine snores too,Try ear plugs but get the good kind any pharmacy should carry them. Also why doesn''t he go to the Dr.? He might have other problems sleep apnea etc.. I've heard of an operation where they go in and cauterize the skin in the back of the throat and this stops the snoring sometimes. good luck!!!

I know how horrible it must be, believe it. But he really should see a doctor as they do now have effective treatment. He specifically should see a specialist. And you might want ear plugs until his case is treated. It won't eliminate all the sound but lower a bit. Wish I could say more but I am no doctor, just someone that knows your pain. And yes, it can become painful in so many ways. Lack of sleep will add up and start affecting you in many ways too.
Good luck.

I done several things for my wife's snoring: I've slept in guest room or on the sofa. I've left her in the den asleep on the sofa. I've used ear plugs. Mostly, I turn the radio on to provide background noise so the snore isn't a silence breaker. All of these things work, but the radio is most preferred.

Take him in for a sleep study. My husband snored so bad I was ready to sleep in another room. His Dr. suggested a sleep study to see if he has sleep apnea. He does, now he is on a C-Pap machine and sleeps like a baby. I have gotten alot more sleep since he has done this. Good luck!

My hubby did the same thing for years ( we were asked to leave a camp ground because of how loud it was) He had obstructive sleep apnea. He had surgery to remove part of his soft pallet. He no longer snores and he sleeps better too, Have him go see the doctor he may need the same thing.
