I got my tongue pierced about 10 years ago, but I took it out once everyone and their mothers starting doing it. It was cool at one time, now it's kind of mainstream.

Look, although most piercings look pretty hideous especially when a person gets older and the elasticity of the skin makes piercings droop. Let me tell you that last year due to oral cancer I had to have part of my tongue cut away and although I have managed to speak pretty well since through speech therapy, I have had a lot of oral surgery. I so envy you to have my whole tongue back to how it was originally and to be able to feel normal. There is nothing clever about fiddling around with your mouth, there are so many nerve endings and blood vessels.
Just be happy having a normal healthy tongue and to be able to speak and eat without any problems.
Ultimately its your descision but from me....leave well alone!

When I first started dating my boyfriend he told me about all the different things he had considered doing to himself over the years - one of which included tongue piercing. He had considered it as he thought it might be sexually pleasurable to the girl he was dating at the time. Now while I have no issues with people doing these things to themselves, I did feel he considered it for the wrong reason. If you get your tongue pierced - it should be for YOU and not for another person. Much like a tattoo, it should be a personal decision.

i think tongue piercing's look really nice on the right people. better than some piercings as you can hide it easily too.
i was thinking of getting my tongue pierced hehe.
as mentioned in a previous answer, it's also supposed to be interesting to kiss with, and for oral on either sex i think. that's not an endorsement to get a piercing, by the way, it's just something people mention when on the topic of tongue piercings.
though.. downside might be talking strangely until you get to grips with it. and the diet of ice cream for a week. mmm...

i think it is an individual thing but my friend had it done and was in total pain for weeks, she then started complaining of it always touching her teeth.
i believe it would affect you looking for a job as a prospective employer of labour is not likely to take a person with a tongue piercing as very serious!
it also should not be done because your partner or husband would like the sensation while kissing or having oral sex,it should be done becos you want to and have thought about the consequences of the actions involved in doing it.ie,the pain and the likely stigma that could be involved.
i actually thought,it was out dated and was a fad that passed a while back.....
good luck!hope ypu have a high pain threshold!

I had mine done about 5 years ago, and it hurt like hell!!!!!!!! I couldn't eat for days, it hurt hurt hurt! I kept it in for a few months, and then I took it out because I kept grinding the bar on my teeth and I was worried that my teeth were going to end up looking rough, and that's more important to me than any "fashion" accessory.

Overall I do quite like the look, and I often feel a bit jealous when I see someone with it, but I know that it was nothing but hassle for me, and really a bit pointless.

I much prefer a navel piercing, it's less painful and much more sexy! You can also hide it when you need to, which makes everyday living and getting "normal" jobs alot easier.

It is filthy and revolting.

Allegedly it is wonderful to recieve a BJ from a young lady with a tongue piercing, and this was the original intention of this particular mutilation.

Ok i have this piercing and it is wonderful.
1.you can eat and drink with it in
2.You certainly can kiss with it in
3.if you ever want it out your tongue is pourous and it heals without a scar
4.if you want it done get it done it is only uncomfortable for a week till you get used to it.

so really if you want it done mate get it done it is not a problem at all.

I think it's cool and I'd like to pierce my own tongue one day.
