An infidel is more than a christian or a jew, an indifel is a pagan, a polytheist, or an atheist

And as a good muslim what u basically have to do is believe in Allah oneness, dont associate others to Him, trust and seek for his help only. This the principal belief of Islam and also that Mohamed is His last messanger. Of course u also have to follow the 10 commandments and the teachings of Jesus and the reward is going heaven and be for the eternity what ever u want to. Still, I have seen the rewards in this life as well. And u get to meet Allah searching always fro the truth, praying, giving charity and even studying science as long as it take u to understand more about Allah´s creation. Having questions is a good way to start to walk the path that guides u to Allah.

One last thing, try to keep things simple, one thing at the time and u will succeed. Ameen.

Thank you for this question.

There is not such word in the Quran. The word infidel means to not be faithful and is too broad a category. The two words you might be interested in the Quran (both Quran and Koran are accepted romanizations of the Arabic word. Coran is the way it is usually transliterated in Spanish speaking countries)

The two words are: Kaffir and Mushrikin.

Kaffir more precisely translated means "to cover up" and refers to those that cover the truth even after they have learned it. Perhaps a translation of apostate is better then infidel.

Mushrikin means "polytheists" or more precisely - those that assign partners to God. Mushrikin has been assigned to many but in classical Quran it refers to pre-islamic Arabs most generally, who worshiped idols.

I think that infidel is actually more of a Christian concept as it was usually Christians who translated the words of the Quran this way. Allah (swt) is far more exacting about exactly what mistakes people make.

And Allah knows best.

Peace and Blessings,

Salim

Both of these are very

Most Muslims seem a bit unclear about this. They act as if anyone who is not Muslim is an infidel, but the Koran says that Christians and Jews are NOT infidels. Only those who do not believe in God -what they think of as Allah- are infidels.

He who thinks, says, acts against the One True God is an infidel.
All pious men will draw nearer to God, but none can meet Him.
