I have just witnessed one of the most disgraceful things I've seen on this site! A person with learning difficulties asked why people were being so mean and some of the responses were just downright nasty! If people want to be abusive then please go to another site where that is accepted, there are plenty out there. And to be so nasty to a person not as bright as yourselves ( although I seriously doubt some peoples mental capacity!) you should be damn well ashamed of yourselves. No doubt this will instigate a flood of vitriol from the less well reared of you out there but I don't have learning difficulties so I shan't take it to heart! :)

Yes I did forget it is half term isn't it, so all the bitter 14 year olds with no friends will be taking it out on everyone else. Maybe if they worked on their people skills they wouldn't be sat on their own on here when other kids are out enjoying the best years of their lives.

Thankyou for your comment natanat. I totally agree with what you said about people hiding behind their computer screens but my point is that there are plenty of sites for immature kids out there and maybe if more people cared about this then they wouldn't get away with it. Just my opinion.

There are lotsc of comments from people saying either I am taking this too seriously or that I am too sensitive for the net. Come on!!! I'm a thirty two year old mother of two who was not exactly raised on the right side of the tracks but there is absolutely no excuse for offensive, ignorant behaviour be it on the net or anywhere else. People need to stop accepting this decline in standards and maybe the world would be a better place.

i totally agree with you...yahoo should police the site better...some people are here to stir up hate against one religion or another ...or as in the case you are talking about ..they are mocking a person with learning difficulties...these are sick minded people who yahoo should ban for good......

I think it's because this is not "real" and people don't have to be as polite and politically correct as they would in a "real" situation. I guess this gives some people the opportunity to say things to others that they'd never have the guts to say in real life....you could call it hiding behind their computer screen!

At the end of the day, your post is going to provoke more nastiness, because you're showing that it bothers you, why else would you take the time to post about it otherwise?! I couldn't care less if people are nasty to others on here, and I couldn't care less if people are nasty to me....take it for what it is...an internet site! Not something to get stressed about, or to think too seriously about...but then again, everyone's different.

I also agree with natnat but I would go further in saying that the nastier the answer the greater the proof of cowardice of the person. It is unfortunate but small minded intellectually challenged bigots tend to use this as a way of letting off steam as they know what would happen to them if they did the same in their homes or in public. I felt your question was excellent and a reflection of what this site was really made for; constructive questions and constructive answers. Hopefully you will soon get something more appropriate to your intelligence to deal with other than the rantings and ravings of the idiot fringe.

sad thing is bet most of the answers weren't from kids at all but from adults who are sad and life less hiding behind their screens all i cans say is if you are easily offened then the net is not the place for you as there is always someoone out ther looking to spoil it sad but true xx

That's what the "report abuse" button is for.

And does a few lines of text written by someone who doesn't know you really hurt that much? Maybe it does, but really it's pretty inconsequential, and in the end most questions here get at least some good answers, i'd say getting a small amount of cr@p aswell is a price worth paying

I was disgusted by some of the answers too. The person who asked the question was probably looking for a little support from the Answers Community and I hope I was encouraging to her.

Let us have a campaign to make this forum useful and instructive.Given the freedom internet gives people , can we devise a system, that will be positive. Can we create a sub-group of people who are willing to be supportive rather than destructive?

I think it's the day and age of computers. Your not saying it face to face so you think you can be rude, offensive, nasty, mean, hurtful and just plain "right". What ever happened to "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" We were all taught this by our parents.Or the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
