TTL = Transistor Transistor Logic. The different families use different internal components and wil be able to operate at differing speeds and input / output current and voltage levels. Look at the datasheets for devices from various logic families to understand the differences.

I do not know if you are talking in the context of computing, because in Computing Communication
TTL mean Time to Live. It is basically the time of each packet sent and recieved from one computer to other.
