If you let it control your life then yes. If you are in control of it then no.

As with many things, whether this is a sin lies within your own perception of this activity.
If gambling is the center of your life and you can't think about anything else, much less God, then it's idolatry and it's a sin (1 Cor. 10:14).
If you spend all your money and cannot pay your bills and/or support your family, then it's a sin (1 Timothy 5:8).
If you gamble because you covet to win huge sums of money, that's also idolatry, and it's a sin (Colossians 3:15).
However, if you only gamble occasionally; AND do not let it rule your life; AND do not gamble more than you can safely lose; AND don't covet potential winnings, there's nothing wrong with it.
Peace.
EDIT: "Boaz," you are greatly misinformed.

Gambling is a vice, not a sin. It is not listed among the other heinous, hell worthy sins from violating the 10 Commandments, so it is not a sin. If you lose all the grocery money in a poker game, and then she kills you, She is the sinner.

That matter came up as a question on my radio show. I used the Bible to show that Jesus' disciples traveled with dice and used them to choose a successor for Judas. I also showed that Sampson burned down a field by lighting foxes tails because he lost a dice game. New Testament churches need to realize that it is a church-inflicted law as a disciplinary guideline and not the fear and guilt factor that they make it. After all, the word LOTTERY is derived from LOT, which means dice.
Boaz.

If you lust for money you are putting money before God. If you lust for money to pay your bills you are saying that you don't trust God to take care of you. If you are gambling to throw away your money i will give you my address and you can just send it to me! I will send you a note telling you how close you are to winning and you could send me more. Peace to you.

Probably considered a vice, not a sin. I agree with everyone else though, as long as it doesn't run your life then it's fine.

If it is I've had it. I can see how it could be because it generates a lot of negativity like greed etc. but like everything else in moderation it isn't a problem.

Are you harming yourself or another person? That's the only genuine definition of wrongdoing. Any other definition of "sin" is mythological nonsense.
