We have now gotten past the arguements about if global warming is real, and accepted it as fact. The major gases associated with global warming are: water vapor, CFC's, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, Nitrous Oxide & ozone. Cars, power generation, agriculture and factories are the obvious worst polluters of these gases. We are now seeing incredible pressure placed upon drivers of heavily polluting cars, and upon industry.
Smoking cigarettes produces nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide, as well as formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, and DDT, most of which contribute to global warming.
With over 1 billion, or approximately a 6th of all people on the earth regular smokers, surely they provide a deadly, and un-neccessary addition to global warming, and should be taxed even more heavily for their disregard of the planet? Who agrees??

From smoking itself, the amount is negligable.

But when you add in the ancillary forest fires, brush fires, home fires that stupid smokers cause, yes, it's noticeable.

I'm going to go one step further than you, and say that cigarettes are such a defective product that they should be subject to a recall and redesign. Any other consumer product with such a horrific record would already have been pulled from the market. The fact that cigarettes haven't been says that in our Congress, the members who aren't bought and paid for are lily livered yellow bellied spineless cowards.

How about pet owners? All the carbon dioxide and methane emitted by all those dogs and cats? That's gotta be increasing global warming. We should tax them too.

And athletes! They deliberately increase their metabolic rates! They are adding extra carbon dioxide, plus all manner of nasty metabolic wastes to our air and water through their selfish over-activity! We should tax the snot out of them too!

The worst is mothers though!! Every new child they bring into this world simply consumes and consumes and consumes, in some cases for upwards of SEVENTY YEARS!!! And they produce greenhouse gases the whole time!!!!! We definitely need to stop that right away!!!!!!

More CO2 will be produced in the growing, processing packaging, transportation and retailing than from the cigarette itself.
plus the sponsorship of motorsports.

plus the emmisions from all the extra medical care, emergency vehicles and pharmacuticals.

definitly all unnecessary; but be considerate - smokers are addicts who will not be able to think clearly about any issues apart from their next fix. They are generally uneducated/uninterested in any environmental issue, as demonstrated by their littering and agressive attitude to any "attack" on their habit.

No, smokers are only hurting themselves.
One coal burning factory will put out more smoke in an hour than an entire nation of smokers.

Your right! Devise a means of small, easy to manage steps, of help and support helping people to quit. Not pushing them over the edge and cracking them in a arrogant way, i mean that usual stops people from trying. I might bare thinking about it. from the natural born smoker!
