Damn right!!

I agree with Jack Straw. I'm sorry but in middle eastern countries the British respect the cultures of those living in them when we are holidaying/ living there and if we don't we are rep-remanded. It should work both ways! Or prisons are cushier than some hotels for crying out loud and don't even get me started on illegal immigrants. I firmly believe we are an Island for a reason, we should close up the channel tunnel and impose heavy fines on any one entering the country illegally!!!
I do believe in helping people from war torn countries but giving them free bed and board is not the answer!! We need to look back to when Britain was great. We owed most of the world. I don't think it would be a bad thing to start overthrowing these second rate third world governments and starting over with British rule, just look at India and Hong Kong, America even, fair enough we were never perfect back in those times but it is the 21st century and we are a peace loving country!!!!
It is time for CHANGE!!!!!!!
Nhs......lets just privatise it! we can all have health insurance and those on benefits will just have to go get a JOB!! ( sorry but I know a lot of people on income support/ job seekers and they are all fit and well enough to work).
Ooh this question has really got my anger going!!!!!!!
I do work every day, have qualifications, don't steal or take drugs and pay my taxes!!!!!

Don't believe everything (or anything) you read in the tabloids. In order to sell newspapers you have to grab reader's attention - the best way to do that is with shocking headlines, such as 'NHS doomed' or 'immigrants getting paid more than British workers'. There is no law requiring what the newspapers print to be true - therefore they could in fact make up anything they like and present it as news. Take for instance a headline from the Sun, saying that immigrants get paid 50% more than British people. The very idea of that is completely absurd, I thought the point of immigrants was that they're cheap - not to "pollute our country" or whatever the Sun's vitriol was.

The NHS is badly run and underfunded - but that's always been the case, and things were certainly a lot worse under Thatcher and Major. Immigrants are NOT getting more benefits, many immigrants don't get ANY benefits - because they go straight into work.

The only possible reason for their to be unrest in the country is the issue about the rights of Muslims to wear headscarves etc. I believe (as we live in a free country) that if they are going about their buisiness then they can wear whatever they like - but if they are in a job where you are in a position of trust then they need to not wear the full face veil, as that is just politeness. The whole issue has largely been blown out of all proportion - Straw didn't DEMAND that Muslims remove ALL headscarves (as his constituency is largely Muslim it'd be political suicide), he merely said he asked if they could remove them. There isn't nearly as much of a fuss about this as many people would have you believe - because not that many Muslims wear the full face veil for starters anyway.

You've been reading the mirror again haven't you!! That's a bad habit.

The NHS is not hopeless; I know - I work in it.
Immigrants cover a multitude of people; skilled/qualifed healthcare professionals, for example. Some get benefits - some don't.
You know the government is lying how?
There is an exit strategy from Iraq, there always has been (Of sorts).
"The Muslims" are just trying to live a life - though Jack Straw may well have had a point.

There's a lot of hype out there - but you have to work out what's real and what's not. Get your facts straight.

There are plenty of decent English people left. People who are caring and tolerant. It's just that you aren't one of them.

The NHS is not hopeless. Sure, there are funding decisions which are tough calls, but most of us are satisfied with it most of the time. We get what we pay for - if we want expensive treatments for non-life-threatening complaints, then we have to pay for them from our taxes.

Immigrants have benefited this country immensely, especially our NHS which is reliant on overseas born and trained clinicians. Whose jobs are they taking? Not mine! If you can't get a job it's due to your own failings, not because immigrants have taken them. I've noticed an influx of Eastern Europeans in service industries (hotels, restaurants, motorway services) and guess what - they're clean, polite, helpful and speak English properly. Unlike the surly British people who grudgingly did these jobs badly, barely acknowledging the customer with a grunt, a few years ago. Now to me that's an improvement.

This government is no better or worse than any previous one. It gets things wrong, it 'misleads' some of the time. But my family's standard of living is higher than ever.

Iraq was a big mistake and our troops should come home as soon as is practicable - There! We agree on something! But there are good humanitarian reasons not to leave a bloodbath behind us, so let's be patient. Even if it is only foreigners living in Iraq (little bit of sarcasm there).

I think Jack Straw was right about veils hindering communication and it needs to be addressed. But it's not Muslims trying to change our culture, just trying to preserve some of their own. They don't get their own way, as the recent case of the veiled Muslim teacher showed. I'm happy for people to wear what the hell they want, but I like to see a face when someone talks to me.

The UK in the 21st Century is a great place to live. It's culturally vibrant, safe (compared to most other countries) and thanks to immigration varied and open to new ideas. My country isn't crumbling, it's thriving - in a way my grandfathers fought (alongside Muslims, Hindus, Poles etc) for. It's not perfect, but where is?

I hope that your blinkered, racist view means that you are on your own and that the people you try to appeal to, the decent English people, can see through your nonsense and reject all that you preach.

Unlike the Phoenix the way Britain is today must be a embarrassment to all those people who fought courageously to keep this once great country of ours together, the legacy being left by the ruling power will take decades to put right & will not happen in my lifetime once again Britain is & has gone to the dogs & there are times when I really feel sorry for the youngsters being brought up in a country that appears on the surface not to have any control in Law & Order,& our Education system is virtually non-existent what a legacy!Immigration where does it all end,is anybody out there really taking any notice anyway?

You strike me (and I apologise if I'm wrong) as one of those people who think that all we need to do to be great is wave a Union Jack and sing patriotic songs whilst the world cowers before us. May have been true once but not now. We are living on the USA's pocketbook unfortunately. This is a truly cosmopolitan world where boundaries become more blurred each day. The future world powers lie in the Asian continent and we are gradually set to lose our influence unless we become the 51st state: which we have begun to do. Just yesterday the government announced measures to give us more elected Mayors, a real USA concept. Our education system is becoming American, we have trick or treat and pumpkins, we talk about SUV's being 'gas guzzlers' and we have a virtual president in Tony. Is Britain doomed? Only in the sense that Spitfires and Churchill have gone, we don't holiday in Blackpool or Southend, we don't all eat Yorkshire pudding and are scared to go into a pub in case we get assaulted. We have , in this sense , been doomed constantly as is any society which must grow. Any society which tries to remain the same is doomed to violent change. I know which I would rather have.

immigrants are not all claiming benefits, else they wouldn't be allowed in. they are here only to be second class citizens and do all the crap jobs which the lower classes used to have to do, but now they just sit on benefits all day long (and who can blame them given the choice?)...and I can assure you behind every "racial discrimination" case there's an overpaid british human rights lawyer making a fat bundle of cash at the end of it. as for britains future, well, we'll definitely be a rich, successful and powerful country, but at what cost?

As for crime, we are consistently being informed that that's down such loads of % even nevertheless it would not sense like that, additionally they say it appears that evidently like there is extra crime because of the fact the police are extra effective at detecting it, even nevertheless it would not sense like that neither. they say in spite of occurs in united statesa. comes right here, so i think we've the point of crime skyrocketing to seem forward to. Britain is not doomed.England is doomed as it is being managed by 3 scottish idiots, who just aren,t bothered about anything but money and power.this bunch of cretins were put in power by the scotish labour voters, not the English.Scotland is prosperring, thanks to blair allowing it to have its own Parliament. As 4 immigration our infrastructure just cannot continue supporting a large influx of immigrants and their families, working or not.The only other choices we have, is to vote for the Hug a Hoodie numbskull or emigrate.i would suggest to all those who have seen the light to choose the latter, before pirate brown invents another tax to stop us doing so.
