Neutering does not guarantee that the animal will not spray.
If an infection is ruled out (done by a urinalysis), then it sounds behavioral. If he's sitting in a window and sees a stray coming around, he'll have this need to "mark his territory". Unfortunately, his territory is all of the inside of where he lives. I know from experience. I'm sure if you blue lit my house, the entire thing would be blue, lol.
I've never found a way to get an animal to stop spraying. You'll need to get an neutralizer though, like Nature's Miracle or something like it because the smell is bad as you already know I'm sure.
Check with the vet though to rule out any medical problems.

My male was neutered over 7 years ago. When we moved into a new house where there has never been a cat, he started spraying ALL OVER! I couldn't believe it!
But, as someone else said here, they are "marking their territory". Did you get a female cat in the house? Did he see another cat outside that might have threatened him? Did you move to a new house? Get a new dog?
Mine has eased off after a year of me chasing him around, kicking him in the butt lol...but it is common, sorry to say.

just because an animal has been spayed doesnt mean it stops them from spraying. spraying is something that happens with urine, nothing to do with reproduction. its a way of marking property, saying "this is mine, dont bother coming near it" they may feel unsafe and needed a place to call their own, or perhaps there is another cat around. my cat started spraying once i moved. she hates car rides so she sprayed the car, then she sprayed the house 3 times. the best way to get rid of it is Natures miracle, it gets rid of stains and odors. if you want the cat to stop going/spraying in an area get a product called "Feliway" it has cat pheramones in it to say "i dont go here anymore" but you have to spray it more than once for the cat to catch the hint, kinda like how you have to tell a kid more than once to clean their room. if you have anymore questions feel free to contact me at

i work at a petstore and know alot about the cat products (and some dog stuff) good luck!

did you have him neutered before or after he started spraying. once he starts spraying even neutering isn't 100% guarentee that he won't spray anymore.
if you get him neutered before he starts spraying it is more of a behavioral issue, has something or someone changed in your household is your routine different? take him to the vet for a check up and make sure there isn't anything medically wrong with him and then you can work on the behavioral issues.

My Vet said that they are marking the territory or might have a bladder infection. Also you might wanna make sure the litter is changed using the same material, if you change from one kind to another sometimes they won't use the litter box any more.

Territory reasons. Cat must think another is going to be coming around. May seen it at a window or something to that effect.

It's how they mark their territories. It's just a cat thing. My neutered female does it, so don't worry, it's normal enough.
